I booked this hotel several weeks ago but when we arrived the room had been given to someone else. (According tot he staff that night, it was an error on the part of another worker). We were a group of 4 women on the road very late at night and had called twice that night to confirm our reservation and notify them we would be arriving late and not to cancel the room. They said there was no problem and they would see us soon. However, when we arrived, there was no room for us as promised (and as reserved online). The overall condition f the hotel seemed ok, just old. Yet it quickly turned into a disaster. We arrived about 2am and when they said our room (the "better" ones guaranteed with online bookings) was no longer available, they said they would give us a room upstairs on the floor that had not been redone yet. They were apologetic and tried to be helpful. When we got to the room though, it was the worst hotel I've ever been in... not just old and falling apart but completely filthy. He tried to say he would switch us to a better room first thing in the morning but to be honest, the problem wasn't just being outdated it was being filthy. The paint was peeling off, there were stains everywhere on the ceiling, the beds were saggy and worn out, the quilts were literally stained and had holes in them. Since it was by that time around 2:30 in the morning in Mexico City, we were going to try to tough it out for the night. But I have asthma and literally within a few minutes, I was wheezing and couldn't breathe. We took our stuff back downstairs and ended up having to find another hotel at that time of night. this was hands down the filthiest, nastiest place I've ever stayed in.
