A lovely clean hotel with easy walking access to S

Clean and friendly hotel with the perfect location to explore Siena and the rest of Tuscany
8.7
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly at the Hotel Athena. The receptionists were very helpful with directions and recommendations of where to eat and places to visit. The hotel location is perfect for easy walking access to central Siena with Piazza Del Campo within a beautiful 10 minute walk through the narrow streets. Also the hotel is ideally located for access by car with off street parking available. As well as being a great location for Siena, it is within easy access of the main roads to make using the hotel as an ideal base to explore Tuscany and especially the Chianti Trail The hotel was beautifully kept and the rooms were spacious, clean and very well equipped. We were lucky to get a room with a stunning view from the balcony of the Tuscan countryside.

Our stay was great, a nice treat for us. Wifi worked well everywhere, A/C worked well in the room (a big plus for a hot and muggy day), staff was exceptional.

Good hotel in a good, fairly central location

Location, staff, facililties

The rooms at the bottom floor are dungeons looking up onto the street through windows that catch no light so we, like other reviewers, upgraded to a better one a couple of floors up. good position for wandering the beautiful streets of Siena, not right in the middle of it all but a nice 5-10 mins walk to the Campo, I would guess. Friendly staff, decent value, I'd stay here again

well located but disappointing

location in beautiful city center is good and also the opportunity to park your car

the city of sienna is amazingly beautiful. the hotel in contrast was a disappointment. since it is very touristical i tried to lower expectations to my parents that i showed around town and booked a hotel for. since we booked rather late and the city is very touristic i was afraid i could not get a good room. and indeed when checking on agoda all double rooms were taken. they did however mention they had a triple room which was mentioned to be en suite. i thought given the situation a bedroom and seoarate living room would be perfect so i could stay close with my parents and sleep in the living room on a third bed myself. This was not how it worked out. the room that was about dollars a night was just one room with a second bed not even an arm length away from the master. no suite whatsoever. since they did not have any other rooms there was no alternative, but it was thoroughly disappointing.
Restaurant Tip: i forgot the name but visited a lovely restaurant which was run by just one older man. he did everything, from the cooking, tje serving, the hosting ... and what a fantastic experience. price about 100 euro per person but true value for money. what a craftsmenship and hospitality! a pleasure. i am sure if you ask in sienna in the streets they know instantly wjere thisnis!

Quaint, well kept hotel

Just away enough from the throng

Front desk helpfulness varies across, occasionally testy. Fantastic patio that overlook the Tuscan skyline during evening. Location is bit far out duoma public centre, which means, you'd have to schlep up and down the slopes.
Restaurant Tip: There's an excellent family style restaurant at the corner of Via Paulo Mascagni (up slope from Hotel Athena) and Via Fosso di'Saint Ansano, great for dinner, reasonable prices, excellent service by the younger staff.

Lovely hotel with great staffs

Hotel is around 10 min walk from city center and historic sites. Staffs are very helpful with good English skill compared to other Italian receptions. Hotel is lovely and the room meets standard with good condition. Breakfast is fine. Cons are room size, which is too small, and lack of free wifi.

Great value and service with a smile

Excellent location, very clean, nicely furnished, free Internet
9.3
We were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. First of all, he location could not be better, just minutes from all the major attractions. The hotel looks nice and the room was clean and pleasant. The receptionist was very friendly, offering maps, dinner recommendations and other information. There was free Internet service, a big plus for us, since we had problems previously trying to locate an Internet cafe. We didn't eat breakfast there, so we can't comment on teh food. Overall, a very nice stay and a great value for the money.

Only a one day stay so not much to comment. Hotel was well up to standard of comparable 4-star places we have seen this trip. Staff on arrival gave excellent reception, and speedily arranged remake of beds into twin. If arriving or leaving by train, strongly recommend use a taxi to get to and from hotel.
Restaurant Tip: Restaurant is named Compagnia Dei Vinattieri. Dinner was outstanding - I would give it a 9/10.
