bedroom was comfortable, staff are nice people, great location
The courtyard of the hotel is filthy, pigeon crap on the flagstones. The dining staff are poorly trained/overworked -- They were lovely but run off their feet and unable to cope -- I spent forty minutes sitting under their noses as they rushed to and fro, trying to order my meal, before giving up and walking out. (whereupon I was followed by the duty manager, who coaxed me back in by being genuinely apologetic and waiving the cost. Fair enough... but I would rather have paid and had an enjoyable experience). The following morning, I missed breakfast and asked for coffee and toast/croissant to be told that wasn't possible! I would have to wait until noon before they could provide ANY food (the waiter -- again lovely -- did offer to go into the kitchen and sneak me out some granola, behind the chef's back? I declined!) All in all, though the room rate was reduced on your website I felt it was overpriced even at that.

Nice Boutique Hotel

Location, food, design
A very nice boutique hotel just steps from the Brighton waterfront and a short walk from the main shopping and dining areas in the city. I arrived shortly before the check-in time and my room was not ready, however the staff were very helpful and rushed to prepare it very quickly. This gave me a chance to try some of the excellent food served in the courtyard restaurant. The hotel is very tastefully decorated, well maintained and managed. It was an enjoyable stay.

staff let the hotel down

design and location
unfortunately the staff had poor records of booking details, were unable to facilitate parking, managed breakfast orders in a hap-hazard fashion and were reluctant to collect all bags from the room. very disappointing given we were using the hotel for a special occasion. overall the hotel didn't offer reasonable value - considering i've since been staying at arguably the best hotel in the uk at a considerably lesser rate.

A lovely hotel, great location in a fabulous city

Room facilities and cleanliness; very friendly and helpful staff; location.
Excellent. The only negative was the problem in the Hotel du Vin not having received payment, despite this holiday being paid for 2 months in advance. The staff at Hotel du Vin sorted the problem out very quickly.
