Great location, looking a little worn around the edges
Location is brilliant, 5 mins stroll from Micklegate bar. Staff were incredibly friendly and professional. Room was a little rough around the edges, chipped paint on bath panel, rust stain around plug hole in the sink. Hair of previous occupant to tiles on the shower. Missing curtain tie back so could only hook back one curtain, leaving room dark. And the complimentary milk in the mini bar was off. These little details caused a bit of disappointment as I expected more. But cleanliness issue resolved immediately when pointed out to the staff.

Chateaubriand?
Chateaubriand wasn't Chateaubriand, and despite the price only served with sides for 1

Staff service was outstanding; location and overall service by all staff
Excellent. The hotel Manager was outstanding. His service went beyond duty of call. We were very impressed with the service and certainly will recommend it to family and friends.

Great city break
Very professional and helpful staff. Well appointed room with good facilities. Reasonably priced parking on the edge of the city centre.
We enjoyed a relaxing break in stylish surroundings and a particularly good breakfast to see us on our way.

Visit to York
The ambience, the staff and the restaurant
Our stay was very pleasant and everything we expected, having stayed in HduV in Henley, Birmingham and Bristol.

Enjoyable
Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Location. Atmosphere.
It was very good and I would recommend it to friends and I would stay there again, my only complaint was the overnight charge to park the car in the hotel car park that I wasn't made aware of when I book it, nor in the confirmation email or when we checked in. This came as an unwelcome surprise, the hotel manager was very good and when I told him we were unaware of the charge he only charged us half the price.

Very comfy bed but disappointing food
High quality linen on the beds; rain shower in bathroom; tea/coffee facilities in the room
The bed was very comfy and my room was relatively quiet. I find the decor of this chain of hotels a little on the dark side. Maybe it makes for a cosy atmosphere in the winter but in summer, it was very dark and drab. I found it impossible to read in my room as the lighting was low wattage and not adequate for reading. I think the decor made the available light worse. I would avoid the restaurant altogether if I stay again as the food was really not very good and overpriced. Service charge was added too making even a light dinner an expensive affair. Buffet breakfast is £12 but as the choice was very limited, I decided to order cooked breakfast at £16.50. I ordered smoked haddock but they didn't have it so I opted for the full English breakfast. I can honestly say it was the worst cooked breakfast I have ever had. My local greasy spoon does better for £4.50. All in all, good room and bed but eat elsewhere.
