Close to the airport but not a five star resort

Location, Location, Location
Chose this hotel as a layover due to delayed flight. Thought it would be better than staying at a standard Hampton / Holiday Inn. No internet in the rooms, wired or wireless. Internet in the lobby was very slow. Rooms were large with noisy AC and traffic noise was also loud form the highway below. Water was only warm just enough for a shower but not for bath.No mini bar or ironing board in the room. This is certainly not a five star resort.

Particularly good for airport

Wonderful grounds and setting, large rooms, spotless, not industrial
When we go to airport we always stay here. It has real grounds, with big trees, big pool, big rooms, thick walls, stupendous views of the city, capable well managed restaurants, all well kept and spotless. A few rooms can catch more road noise than others, but those rooms can have astonishing views from their balconies. Ask. Very charming and Mexicano, with reliable shuttle to airport (not from).
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Not a downtown place, but cabs are plentiful and metered so you can easily go anywhere which tyou would do anyway. Staff grand! This is literally on top of a mountain just off the western periferico. If you are expecting the Ritz-Carlton or Hampton Inn this is not it!

Gracious hotel with large rooms and caring staff

Gardens, grounds, birds, butterflies, immaculate room, good casual restaurant
have stayed the he tapatio several times, usually in association with the airport. it is old enough to have large trees and beautiful grounds. the whole establishment seems well kept and professionally staffed. don't get it confused with a ritz-carlton, however. while well away from the downtown and tourist areas, taxis are metered and not expensive. the only thing that might give one pause is that while the hotel sits on a hill, at the base of this hill is the airport-chapala freeway, four lanes on each side of the hill. traffic noise is a reality particularly lower level rooms with patio doors open. rooms on upper levels facing in towards pool have no view but less traffic noise.

The Castle with a View

Everything! The food, the view, the more than happy to accomodate staff, the pool and common areas.
This hotel was the ultimate hotel experience for me! My excitement grew bigger and bigger the higher we got as we circled the cobblestone road to the top of the hill it sits on! The view from this hotel/ resort is breathtaking! You can see the whole city! AMAZING! As we pulled up to the front entrance, the staff came and grabbed our bags and escorted us to the front desk. Where they offered us a beverage. I like a cold beer after flying for 5 hrs, which was a bonus. We got our room keys and followed our tour guide through the reort and up and down corridors of this authentic palace. We finally made it to our beautiful hotel room, which was more like a suite! Huge bathroom, mini bar, patio with table and chairs also with the view of the city. There was another table and chairs in our room as well and the beds were super comfy. I couldnt believe how beautiful this place was for the price we paid. I would stay ther again, or even book a vacation there. I have suggested this place to my friends and family and we have all stayed there 2 -3 times each since our first visit. Beautiful place!
Nightlife Tip: There is a club/disco right in the resort. Lots of locals come there to dance and party. Its a good time, and only a couple steps away!
