Don't stay here
This hotel is old and tired...a bit like the owner, who was also unfriendly and uncaring. The hotel looks ok from outside and has lovely gardens but that's as good as it gets. Our deluxe room was dark and dingy with no water or toiletries. Light was so dim we couldn't read. Bath had a plug but it didn't fit the plug hole and the shower was just an over bath hair washing hose. We were freezing cold in the room and asked for a heater. Although it was late at night and we only needed it for a while when we got ready for bed, we were charged £4 for heater rental. The breakfast was awful and dinner was tasteless, even though it was Chinese. Wouldn't recommend at all. Lots of other places to stay, so stay away from this dirty place. For colonial style, read a few old rustic chairs and copper kettles on the fireplace. Dreadful place.

Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms

Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms
fantastic location next to hotel grand which has grand Indian restaurant, so food was not a problem. Good helpful staff, clean rooms and bathroom. Poor wifi. Nice garden with lawn. Overall value for money

Dirty and old hotel.
Not good !! Ugly hotel. Staff some are good helpful. No attention to customers. Doesn't feel like I was a guest. Not recommended !!! Nice antique interior in the bar and lounge.

Avoid this place!!
Stayed in the junior suite with a small sitting area facing the garden. Probably among their best rooms but still just terrible even by usual Sri Labkan standards. The room smells moldy and the interior simply looks stale with crappy furniture. White towels have conspicuous stains on them...yikes! Worst of all is their staff (someone named Laija?) who would trick you if you book a tour thru them. This hotel was my only bad experience during my 7-day trip in Lanka. Had I known what this place and in particular their staff were like, I wound't have stayed there even if you paid me diamonds. In one word, avoid ... avoid ... avoid!!!

Something creepy about the place

Chinese food in diningroom, lobby with fireplace
Although the place was clean, there was a creepy feeling about this place and I wouldn't go back. It is definitely out of another era and the furnishing are a bit tattered and the furniture in the room was so oversized that you couldn't really use it (i.e. get around it). It just didn't feel clean and fresh.

Comfortable stay.

Location, comfortable bed, bar and good food
Stayed 2 nights. The hotel needs some maintenance but we enjoyed the restaurant and the bar which had a nice relaxing atmosphere. Staff did well and the bedroom was clean and comfortable. Nice garden and pleasant walk to the town by the side of the golf course.

Nice colonial vibe

The pub, location, decor
It was like staying in someone's house. The pub is cool. It was nice to stay in someplace with a colonial feel.
