Nice stay
Location, staff, cleanliness
A boutique hotel with very small rooms. You literally open the door and fall into bed - that said, it does character that many other hotels do not. Being 100 years old, and with a lot of wood, you may hear the person on the floor above get out of bed each morning. Each night they leave you with a card showing what the weather will be the next day - I could not see out the window to ascertain this myself. Great location in the South Beach district, near AT&T Park and the pier areas, which are great for fine dining and leisurely coffees. Would stay there again if a quick visit was required.

Staff was amazing!
Staff, food, cleanliness
We couldn't be happier with the staff, esp the manager, of this hotel. The rooms are very nice and clean. The staff went out of their way to accomodate us in every way! We never order room service but did here on the first night, it was fast and the food was great! I would stay there again.

A comfortable, quiet oasis amid the bustle.
Friendly staff; comfortable, quiet rooms, excellent location.
I had never stayed in downtown San Francisco before, but the hotel was easy to find. Check-in was quick: my bags were in my room and my car taken to be parked within a few minutes of my arrival. It turned out to be a beautiful, historic building; my room was smaller than the average, newer hotel room, but was very well laid out and appointed, and the vaulted ceiling and tall window gave it an airy feeling. Everything was updated and modern; nothing felt "old" about the room other than the architectural details. The bed was very comfortable. I was in town for a charity relay event in which participants dress in costume, and the reception staff were interested but unperturbed when I strolled through the lobby in full regalia upon departure for and return from the event. I had two excellent dinners and one breakfast at the very reasonably priced in-house restaurant on the main floor of the hotel. At dinnertime, the place was quite busy with the after-work business crowd, but I didn't need to wait for seating on either evening. In summary, a great place to stay for anyone willing to pay a bit more for exceptional accommodations just off the Embarcadero. I would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic location. Rooms on tiny side but nice.
location, design, restaurant/bar
Enjoyed my stay very much. Though the rooms were small, the design and cleanliness of the rooms make up for the size. Location is great. A few blocks from the Embarcadero Bart station and the hotel is situated diagonally across from the ferry building/farmer's market. As a frequent traveler to SF, Hotel Griffon is on the top of my list for sf's boutique hotels.
