Staying at the Hotel Italia is like stepping into a Mediterranean jewel. The hotel is conveniently located just a short distance from Siena’s city center, and guests can take a short walk that will lead them to medieval Cortona where the main square lies. Though the hotel dates back to the early 1600s, it has been renovated, giving guests the feeling of the hotel’s historic charm as well as the comfort and conveniences of the modern age. For leisure, guests can pick from enjoying a relaxing time at the bar or they can make a short trip to the nearest swimming pool and tennis court. We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Italia. Staff were friendly, professional, and helpful, hotel was clean & quiet, nice bed, big room, excellent breakfast. Good location for easy driving access, though a bit of a walk to the center.

Friendly hotel just outside of the centre

Friendly staff, great breakfast, comfortable rooms
9.7
We really enjoyed our stay at hotel Italia. We came from Pisa by train, and the hotel was very easy to find. Though it is a little out of town, the walk in was pleasant and enjoyable. The staff were extremely friendly and professional, and the breakfasts were great- a fantastic selection of hot and cold food. Would happily return

Location, Staff and Chocolate Croissants = Delight

Convenient Location, Helpful Friendly Staff and Unlimited Chocolate Croissants

This streetfront hotel has a great location to the train/bus terminal as well as a 20-30 minute walk to the heart of Siena. As mentioned by others you can go from the bus or train up through a 2 story shopping mall (PAM) and then continue up escalators to the street of the hotel. Although our front room was smallish with a tiny bath, we had a large balcony with a fantastic view of the Tuscany hills. Since there's a traffic light in front of the hotel with beeps for the visually impaired and a turn-off to Rome, either use ear plugs or ask for a back room unless you crave a balcony and/or are a heavy sleeper. There is a pot of American coffee in the bar/common room off of the lobby where except for the dour night clerk the desk folks are proactive and helpful with information from church hours, train schedules, and bus schedules to the nearby medieval city of San Gimingano. The breakfast buffet is bountiful, and I'd return just for the chocolate croissants.

Worth to stay

location, food, nice room

It's close to the Siena station. But you need to buffer 20 min to reach station since it is 5 level down the hill. The room is quite good. Breakfast are nice. Staffs are friendly. Bathroom is nice. Ask for room with bathtub. It's worth to stay here. Will recommend friends to stay here. When you come by bus from florence, it is just before the main gate of the old city. You can request the driver to stop for you to alight just next to the hotel.
