Very close to Central but very peaceful

A lot of restaurants and stores around.
7.3
hotel is quite nice and the decorations are updated. it is very close to central but feels like you are miles away from the hustle and bustle. staff is nice and very helpful. right outside the hotel are numerous chinese restaurants, a mc donald's and several convenience store. the surroundings is nice for a morning walk. you might chance upon a lot of cheap good buys from the stores around. no mtr so you would need to take the tram or a taxi going to central. the hotel however has free shuttle service the the whole day that can take you to macau ferry, and central station. there's free wifi internet in the room which is a big plus. for a peaceful vacation in hong kong, i would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Disappointing for a Traders Hotel

Old tram stop is close to the hotel. Nothing else comes to mind
4.7
even though the service is friendly (but that is the case in most of hong kong), our overall stay in traders hotel hong kong was disappointing. the bed was surprisingly hard for a western chain hotel and even though they added another layer, it was still on the hard side. the room itself was very small. hong kong is notorious for small hotel rooms, but this was a club floor room for around usd and then i find brushing my teeth in the hall and taking a shower in a closet a bit sad. after our morning shower, there was water in the hallway so it was a bit messy. also the club floor was a bit rundown and the view disappointing. breakfast up there was o.k. but not special, downstairs at the 509 cafe, the dinning room feels claustrophobic due to the low ceilings and lack of daylight. the location can also be better. the first metro stop is too far to walk with luggage. (or even without for some people) the old quaint tram stops quite close so that is nice but otherwise it pays off to stay closer to central, admiralty, causeway bay or even north point where the hotels seem to offer more room for your money. after staying in traders in kuala lumpur (excellent) and bangkok (very nice), the traders hotel in hong kong was just not up to par. the value for money ratio definitely is not good. the harbour grand on north point has much better rooms for similar prices.(and i'm sure other hotels do as well) room tip: when you want to have a bit of a view, ask for rooms xx02 and xx04. the higher the room number, the more your view will be blocked by the building across the street.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Hong Kong Park with its Aviary is realy nice. also the Botanical Gardens are free of charge and have a zoo area with a lot of different kinds of monkeys.

Above standard business hotel

Nice view from my room
7.7
Overall it is a above standard business hotel, as extra bonus given to the sea view (of course paying extra money) The room was a bit smaller than i expected, but it was clean and tidy, with well facilitated. I enjoyed sitting next to the window to see the sea view of the Victoria Harbour, but wonder what the viewing would be on the opposite side of the hotel (facing the residence). Also I guess it is easy for the residents opposite easily to see the guest in the room, which seems a bit lack of privacy. Generally it is a nice expereience to stay in this hotel.
Travel tip: Transport to the hotel is not easy. It is a bonus mark for their shuttle bus service

Great location, but very noisy facing the roadside

Location was great
6.7
it is an ok place to stay for a night, as rates are reasonable, location is good and the rooms are ok. the rooms are very small and if they face the roadside even up on high floors it is very noisy.

Convenient location.

Location, rooms well appointed although small.

the only real problem i felt was that the food in the club lounge was never hot. if i ordered eggs in the morning these had to come from the kitchen and were lukewarm to cold. the rest of the food was never hot. the only other problem was the terible stink that came from the deodorant used in the public areas. wish they would change the fraquence, at present it stinks.
Travel tip: The pool is a good place to unwind.

Good location for meeting in central and good size

Good size

not too far from central and has good size for the room. however, there was one morning whereby the cleaning staff did not take note of the 'do not disturb' sign.
Restaurant Tip: Some traditional local food cafes in the area.

Good value for central HKG

Value considering it's a subsidiary of Shangri-la
8.3
Didn't really explore much about this hotel as I was only there for 7 hours (12 midnight to 7 AM). Rooms are small as compared to the hotels I usually stay in (think Starwood Properties in Hong Kong). However, the price is very reasonable for just a quick layover AND the staffs are exceptionally friendly. For first timers to HKG, you may feel a bit let-down with the hotel's immediate surroundings...But keep in mind that THIS is HKG (meaning it is VERY safe). So if you are not looking to splurge staying in a fancy hotel, I would suggest the Traders hotel by Shangri-la. Nothing shady with bills, no hassles, etc.
Nightlife Tip: -Expect to pay around $40HKD taxi per way from central airport express BUT they do have shuttle service to/from hotel and the airport express. - Close to Lan Kwai Fong (think Hollywood Road, etc.) so staying at this hotel wont cost you an arm and a leg taking a taxi from the party places of HKG.
