Hotel Kurrajong Canberra

Old hotel, big room, quiet surroundings
The hotel is right across my office. It's an old 2-storey hotel in the quiet and peaceful suburb of Barton and is undergoing renovation. The room we were given had not yet been renovated and so was old and worn out. It had an old bathroom with a stained toilet bowl and a shower head that let out a sharp and wide spray of water, far from ideal. I saw some cobwebs in the bathroom and the bedroom ceiling. Amenities were sparse and the closet was very small. For some reason, the small refrigerator was on the floor instead of the usual cabinet that was meant to house it. The best thing about the accommodation was the big room, the free wifi, quiet surroundings and the efficient and friendly check in/out

Comfortable and quiet

Comfortable hotel, helpful staff, quiet surroundings
This was the second time I have stayed at the hotel within the last year and I had a comfortable stay. The heritage rooms are really large and quiet. The staff were helpful and the café was great for breakfast though closed for dinner this time due to renovations. One small thing that make it more convenient would be more power plugs. The jug is located in the cabinet that has the tv on top and fridge under but there are no plugs at that cabinet. A nice touch is the pieces of fruit provided in the room.

Very comfortable, RELAXING and homey

History, Architecture and character
Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Relaxing, good food , clean, and at night could not hear a sound. Being centrally located near the major sights made travel a breeze. All within walking distance. Good food, and staff that make you feel at home. No hesitation in staying here again when going to Canberra. 9/10 from me.

Very convenient for access to the marathon

Position, friendliness and helpfullness of staff
Reception staff were very helpful with map and information on other sites we needed to access by walking.

Comfortable and adequate for a 1 night stay

It was close to main attractions Gallery and Parliament House
reasonably satisfied but one thing missing. This was the first Hotel/Motel I have stayed at that did not supply complimentary packets of biscuits in the room.

Exactly what I required for a short stay

Price; Location away from crowds; Staff attentiveness to my requirements
The hotel accommodation was fine but there was no restaurant facilities open at the weekend which meant finding other places for breakfast and other meals - Manuka restaurants were 15 minutes walk away and the ACT Brumbies Rugby club was approximately 500 metres in Blackall Street - the reception staff provided a map and gave directions to these places. A fire alarm around midnight the first night meant evacuating to the front of the building but about 30 minutes after the fire brigade arrived a false alarm was declared and guests were able to return to their rooms.

35+°C and no air conditioning

clean, affordable, good size
Upon arrival in a very hot Canberra I was told that due to renovations the airconditioning wasn't available and that some rooms had portable airconditioners and others fans. I copped one with a fan. As the day cooled this would have been ok except that the windows wouldn't open meaning a hot night. Hardly ideal preparation for an important triathlon the next morning. If you're going to stay, ring up first and find out about the aircon
