Charming and classy old world hotel
Beautiful architecture, great service
Having stayed at the Raffles in Singapore as a boy, and the Eastern & Oriental in Penang some years ago, I was interested to learn Surabaya had a hotel built by the Sarkies Brothers, and being one who enjoys nostalgia, I decided to try it out. It did not disappoint. The price is very reasonable for what you get. The sense of history all around us was clear, and the service of the hotel staff was very good. The only disappointment was the food at the Maj Pub and Lounge, and especially the coffee at breakfast. Though, I solved that problem by ordering espressos, which the staff were happy to prepare. That said, the Sarkies restaurant food was fine. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Colonial splendor
Ambience, staff, location
A stay at the lovely Hotel Majapahit is truly a step back through time. The room furnishings are elegant (the bathrooms alone are worth the room price) and comfortable. The staff is very well trained and will do everything to make your stay a success - they even come in the room while you're out to dinner to remake the bed, refresh towels, etc. Truly 5* treatment. One downside is that the chinese restaurant in the hotel offers shark fin soup. Considering that this is well known as a non-sustainable product in light of the 75 million sharks slaughtered annually, we were distresseed to see this and had dinner outside the hotel.

Hotel bintang 5 yang bersejarah
Classic Hotel

Wonderful green oasis in a busy city
Huge room with balcony overlooking a lovely garden, wonderful spa, pool and very helpful staff
I loved this quiet oasis in the middle of a busy bustling city. As soon as you stepped through the doors the quiet and soothing ambience enveloped you taking you back to a bygone era. This beautiful old hotel has been lovingly restored and maintained, the rooms are huge and well appointed with everything you would need. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast spread was wonderful and Sarkies their Chinese restaurant served me a delicious meal at a very reasonable price. I had a wonderful treatment in their spa and also used their pool.It is very centrally located within walking distance of the main city centre and a large shopping mall. Also convenient to the train station.

Historic Hotel
Great location, well kept
Very historic hotel, built by one of the Sarkies brothers. Great location in Central Surabaya. The hotel is very well kept, with immaculate gardens. The rooms are big and everything works. However, the tiles in the swimming pool needs to be changed as there are algae growing on them. The 2 restaurants are good but not great. There are many other eating places in the huge shopping mall about 7 minutes walk away. The spa is good with reasonable prices. Will be back if I'm in Surabaya.
