Superb location, beautiful ambience, brilliant staff.
Mayfair is a perfect place to stay in Darjeeling with an almost dreamy feel to it. The detailing in the decor as well as the service did not leave us with any chance to complain. Absolutely fantastic and well worth the price.

The Mayfair - an oasis

The lovely gardens, the peacefulness, the food
A comfortable four nights in an oasis in the midst of chaotic Darjeeling. Staff quietly efficient.

Luxury within expectation

Comfortable room, central location, decent service
Mayfair is a nice heritage hotel centrally located in the heart of Darjeeling town. The hotel is well-maintained and has spacious and comfortable room. During my stay, the staff was able to offer service of the level you expect any luxury hotels to attain, and offered rather helpful travel advice. I had breakfast and dinner in Magnolia, the restaurant within the hotel. Frankly, the food wasn't great and the buffet dinner seemed a bit overpriced for the selections it offered. Wifi was also rather expensive. However, for the overall quality of the hotel and its excellent location, I still recommend it people travelling to Darjeeling - not as grand as the Windamere but still you won't be disappointed.

Great - except no shuttle to centre of Darjeeling

Style, quality and efficiency of staff. Also good food
The hotel is placed on a hill and they do not offer free shuttle service to the main road. They could arrange a taxi for around $30 which for Indian standards is a major ripoff. For the standard and quality of this hotel, a free shuttle service should be offered because of where they are located in the village of Darjeeling.

Hard to beat hot water bottles and an in-room fire

Hot water bottles and a fireplace to warm up the room during the cold winter nights, complimentary in-room snacks and the library
The last thing we wanted to do after a three-hour drive up the mountain from Bagdograh to Darjeeling was venture out on a dark and cold night in an unfamiliar Darjeeling and the hotel had just the thing - quick-to-arrive room service, complimentary in-room snacks (and Darjeeling tea!), hot water bottles and a fireplace to get rid of the chill. The next day, after a long day exploring this fascinating hill town it was nice to sit in the library (which is a hidden gem of the hotel) going through some lovely coffee-table books on the region while watching a documentary on nearby Mt Everest. Throughout it all, the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly regarding organising our airport transfers. We had a lovely stay.

Wonderful experience

Decor, Room, Service
The stay was very pleasant. The hotel is a heritage property and very beautifully maintained. The decor or the hotel and of the rooms is eye catching. There are a lot of old photographs of Darjeeling in every room, staircase, lobby etc which is very interesting. It has got a beautiful library and lots of outdoor sitting options to catch the sun in cold Darjeeling. Overall a very enjoyable stay though the price is on a higher side.
