It's good enough

The curtains, location and the shower
Ok so straight up this is not a 4* hotel, it may like to think it is but it just isn't. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfy enough but it doesn't exactly scream lavish. The staff do not speak English and end up just pushing things at you to get you to understand, I got kicked out of my room so they could clean it. The curtains were one of the best things about the hotel because they really black out the room which was amazing! I honestly had no idea what the time was in the morning and it felt great. Overall it's an ok hotel in a pretty good location in Mexico City nuff said

Visit in Mexico City

Good location, cheap price, free WIFI
The price value for money is ok. The location of the hotel is very good. The stop of the Metro Bus from the airport is only couple hundreds meter from the hotel. The room is small but ok. The bad was very hard for me. My room looked at the main road so it was a little bit noisy and no air conditioner. Now it was ok but summer time it would be critical. But finally my main problem was that the staff didn't speak English well. One of the ladies spoke nothing the other only a little bit. I had got a form by the check in which was full of Spanish. I hope I filled out not my testament...

Surprisingly good

Terrific location, very clean,modern, attractive
based upon the price, i was expecting something more downscale, but it had a glossy exterior, a fine lobby and dining room, immaculate hallways, and the room was fine. the front desk was very friendly and helpful -- they speak english, but indulged me in practicing my rusty spanish. the chambermaids were terrific about letting me work until almost their quitting time, then quickly cleaning the room while i collected my girlfriend at the airport. forty bucks a night, right off la reforma? nothing to complain about at all.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: The neighborhood around Plaza Garibaldi is still a bit sleazy, but it has vastly improved over afew years ago, and it's a very pleasant walk from the hotel to see the Mariachi bands and have dinner. Take a cab back though.

Have been staying here for years

Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet. Great location.
when i travel to mexico city, i always stay at the monaco. it is a gem of a hotel with quality you would expect at a higher price. it is near the alameda and walking distance from the zocalo and the central historical district. the in-house restaurant is good and the waiters attentive. one indication of the quality is that i have only ever seen mexicans in the restaurant- always a good sign when the locals eat there. that being said, the single rooms (i ended up staying in a deluxe room) are small and airless. they need to remodel these. the larger rooms are grand, though- spacious, good light and nice beds. the monaco is lovely and i will be staying there again next week- and next year.
