Good hotel but some things to be aware

Clean, Accessible
7.3
There is a patnership with a touriste tour company. Nice people but be aware of what they purpose as travels (Agra for instance). Very expensive in front of official india tours. Pahar Ganj is a very disturbing place for an european (poverty, dirty, odors). You can't do 2 meters without being disturbed by someone wanting to purpose you hotel, tour, rickshaw, food, clothes, internet... Very disturbing if it's your first time in india. It's a very interesting place to visit but maybe not for your first night/day in the country if you are alone or you will be tempted to go back Europe !).

Deep in Paharganj with room service

Breakfast brought to your room when you scheduled it the night before

A reasonably clean and basic hotel in Pahar Ganj area. A bit of a walk from the train station, but back a bit from the main bazaar, so a bit quieter. No Internet or wifi in the hotel, but nearby cafes. Not a great place to meet other travelers, as there's no real common hang out area. The airport pickup might have gone more smoothly if I had given them my flight arrival time in IST rather than that of my departure, but even after arriving in Delhi, there was a lot if back and forth on the cellphone to find the driver. You could get a simple breakfast of toast, eggs, tea delivered to your room at a specific time in the morning, which was nice, but I suspect it was coming from one of the many street food vendors. Still, made it out unscathed.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Hunayman's tomb and the Red Fort (and their associated nearby bazaars) are great. Colonial architecture on rajpath is so so, IMHO.

hot water availability could have been better, good location on edge of main backpacker type area, poor breakfast don't bother
Hotel Feature Tip: there are no features in this hotel but the nearby chai shop is a great lowkey local hangout

Pricey budget hotel of mediocre quality

Central to Paharganj, friendly staff
4.3
Unfamiliar with Paharganj and arriving in Delhi late at night, we decided to splurge and book a nicer hotel for our first few nights. Based on the Agoda description, reviews and rating, we booked the Pearl Plaza but were ultimately quite disappointed with our choice. Upon our arrival, our pre-booked hotel shuttle failed to appear. Finally called but no record of us and no driver or car available, so we cabbed it. (The manager kindly reimbursed us next morning.) Met by a plague of small flies at the front desk which had also occupied our small and plainly furnished room and kept us awake most of the first night. The room was clean otherwise, but dingy. The sole window in (all) the rooms looks in onto the narrow, unroofed central staircase, up and down which hotel and street noise echoes day and night (we slept with earplugs). Hot water was patchy. Food service but no restaurant, so ate reasonable quality breakfasts just sitting in our room. Over our 3 day stay, staff were friendly, generally efficient, and very solicitous, always proffering basic or supplementary hotel services, but these come at surprisingly high premiums, which perhaps explains the level of motivation. We consistently felt handled rather than helped. A brief walking tour of the district (very actively discouraged by the hotel staff) revealed consistently much lower prices, better quality, or both. Overall, we couldn't help but feel a bit 'had'.
Hotel Feature Tip: this was our first time in delhi. in retrospect, paharganj is cramped, crowded, noisy and dirty, even by new delhi standards. moreover, despite it's reputation as the backpackers' zone, hotels of a given quality seemed relatively more not less expensive in paharganj. while dodging the heavy traffic, we were constantly fending off touts and scammers here, in far greater numbers than in other districts. the new metro is cheap and efficient and gives quick easy access to the whole city. so, unless you just want to make life difficult, not sure why you'd stay in this area. if we went back we wouldn't. stay somewhere else, save your rupees and use the subway and your feet to get around! that said, we found that most of the budget accommodations in delhi weren't advertised online and, unlike most everywhere else we've travelled, the online pre-booked prices were not competitive. in delhi, don't book online unless you have to. just pick an area and take a walk around. if you have an hour or two it is very easy to find many good quality, well priced budget rooms available on short notice.

A neat and tidy hotel in India

- Clean - Conveninet location, 3 minutes walk to MTR station - Friendly staff
7
It is a neat and tidy hotel in India, you won't see molds on the walls. They have no restaurant and breakfast is served as room service. Their staff will bring it to you at your designated time. However, we were assigned to a room at the top floor and it was quite tiring to walk up and down several times a day...

Crazy part of town, nice quiet respite

Quiet Clean Friendly staff Close to food, ATMS and shopping
8.7
Great place, would not hesitate to stay here again. Very friendly and helpful staff, above and beyond what you'd expect from any place in this part of town.
Travel tip: Food nearby, at least two different bank ATM's across street. Mobile/Cell phone stores within the block as well. Good, safe places to eat with a couple blocks.

A decent place to stay in a not so great area

Surprisingly quiet, extremely friendly and attentive staff, simple yet functional room that was larger than might be expected. Clean respite from neighborhood.
8
Overall a decent place to stay. The neighborhood is either too much or full of local color, depending on your approach. I was more than pleased to walk in and find very friendly staff who provided service above what you'd expect in this area. I can't give enough points on this part, they did a great job here. I arrived late in the evening and my room was ready and clean. I quickly discovered that it was quiet enough to sleep without earplugs if I ran the room fan on a lower setting. The breakfasts offered were basic but consistent and promptly delivered. There was never a point where I felt unsafe or in any danger in this hotel. I did see a couple bugs in the room, but the place wasn't overrun with them either. Hot water was about 50% of the time. Of course even without, water was usually at least slightly warm for a quick shower. I don't know that I'd come back to the neighborhood on another visit, but I would not hesitate to stay at the Pearl Plaza again. I would definitely recommend it.
Hotel Feature Tip: Very handy, there are Mobile phone stores within a couple blocks, there are I believe 2 different banks across the street for ATM access. And found a place called Cafe Mandan as a reliable and safe place to eat (go to the main road and turn left, will be on left side).
