Not enough staff. Old rooms.

I waited a least 30 minutes in line before I was checked into my room. Rooms were old and worn. A rust colored orange water came out of my shower when I turned on the water. No water pressure. If you are a young person exploring the city this hotel is fine but if you are a business traveler spend the extra $$$ to book a real hotel.

great for seeing the most important sites

The bathrooms were well in need of being updated. Not very clean.

strategic location

location only
The room is big. The staff upgrade the room for us. However, the toilet condition is not good. There is no drain hole on the floor. Water trap on the floor after we shower. The hotel is an old hotel where you can see leak stain on the ceiling. Good thing is the hotel is opposite the main train station and subway station. It is very convenient and near to time square. Only walking distance. Most of the place of attraction is nearby.

Location, location

The hotel is in an excellent location, staff were friendly and efficient, very reasonable rate for where the hotel is located.
After reading some terrible reviews I was really nervous about staying here, especially as we were a party of 5 peop and I was reaponsible for booking the hotel. We stayed in room 1487. It was clean, bright and quiet, but best of all, it had amazing views of The Empire State Building. The other people with us stayed in 470 (a quad room) it was huge with 4 single beds. Yes the queue for check-in was long, but, it moved really quickly I would say approx 20 mins at check in but only 5 at check out. The staff were busy, but they greeted us with a smile. The information/ticket desk were extremely helpful. Really the hotel is in need of a bit of TLC, but for the location and price its unbeatable. Would I stay again? Absolutely.

The hotel needs urgent renovation...

The location is great. It is right in front of Madison Square Garden. It is near restaurants, city attractions, restaurants and a lot more.
The hotel needs improvement and renovation. The carpets in the hallway and inside the rooms were dirty and old. The rest room is creepy because it's not well mauntained. Thought the location is great. I guess they can upgrade their status from 2 star to a higher rating if the hotel is well maintained.

Disappointing stay
The room was dirty, very small ,dated and moldy. It was vastly over priced ,because it is in a great place when visiting NYC,they get away with charging the patrons way to much. The staff at check in are very rude.I have stayed in New York many times, this was our worst experience .

The location is near to Madison Square and Empire State Building is within walking distance
This was a last minute booking. Everything need to be paid - wifi and bag storage. The toilet and the room is very old and has smell though the room is very big and spacious.

Good Location But Room Condition Needs Improvement

Location, Staff,
I had a good stay in the hotel mainly do to its good location. It was near enough for me to walk to all the major sites that I wanted to such as Times Square, Empire State Building, Broadway and 5th Avenue. I like walking and this hotel provided a central location. The staff (my check-in guy, Kenneth I think was his name) was excellent given the crowd waiting and ruching to check-in. The hotel rooms can definitely be improved, especially the toilet. It looked really run down. Given the location, and the price I was expecting better room condition.

Excelent location, very poor maintenance

Not 100% Pleasant: very dirty, very poor maintenance, rugs and Room interiors seem Old and dirty, manager seems very junior for the posision. Hotel should improve maintenance and staff training urgently
