a typical hotel selected by trip organizers

friendly, helpful staff - close to a great italian restaurant and a good coffee shop (we liked this after 10 days trekking in the mountains) - good located for shopping
rooms, especially the combined toilet shower have been filthy. limited space. overpriced . can't recommend this place.

A base for trekking activities.

Location, price, free wifi
Our deluxe room was very basic but adequate. Beds very hard. Staff were obliging and Sushil organised activities for us.

So wonderful! Like coming home!

Friendly staff, old world charm, quiet location, but still close to the shops, sights and restaurants.
I always enjoy my stay at the Hotel Shakti, this is probably my 10th visit. I really dont want to stay anywhere else in Kathmandu. The friendly efficent staff treat everyone like family! And the old world charm of the place is wonderful!

Basic hotel with great staff

good location and value for money
pros we turned up at 12am and the staff were great they let us check in and were very welcoming. great staff - very friendly and always willing to have a chat. great location for shopping very close to the shopping distict. the electric blanket was much needed in the middle of winter. cons did not have a hot shower while we were there and the bed was rock hard.

Disappointed and unhappy

stayed during winter and rooms are small and very cold. no heater and limited hot water or no hot water. walking distance to the main square/shopping area. hotel is more a 2 star or a budget hotel. will not stay here again.

Great location close to shops

Clean hotel, staff speak good English
The hotel was clean and tidy. Our room was on the ground floor and people walking past could see in through the windows. Good restaurant but at breakfast my first 2 choices from the menu weren't available. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. Lovely garden, short walk to shops. Cost of internet use was cheap. There is a lovely Korean restaurant next door to the hotel. We had 2 dinners and 1 breakfast there.
