Great location

Absolutely loved the quiet and peaceful neighborhood, wonderful breakfast buffet, and excellent location near Nara Park.
8.7
I would definitely recommend this hotel, but note that they cater primarily to Japanese guests, so English language skills are minimal. Also, the bathroom was TINY, but the room was a good size. The breakfast buffet was really great and had a wide array of traditional Japanese breakfast items, but also had a good bit of western food. And it was Very close Nara Park and some of the world heritage sites.

Good internet, close to major attractions and at the same time quiet, within the most traditional Nara´s neighborhood

Nice hotel close to Nara Park

location was good and very friendly staff

The hotel is ranked as 3-stars while all our others were 4,5 - 5 on this trip. Our expectations was of course lowered, and the hotel is of course not a 5-stars hotel. The stay was however very nice, the room was a bit smaller, but still ok. The bath looked like it was taken directly from a small boat (but everything was clean and it worked). Friendly staff and all in all a good stay.
Shopping Tip: We thought of having just a daytrip to Nara, but decided on staying there for two nights instead. That was one of the best decisions for the entire trip. We got through the most important parts the first day there, but to have an off-day in Nara was perfect. They have some of the best souvenirshops in the country, and they accutally sell things I want to buy. The prices are okay as well. We also got to see the bonfire at night which was amazing.

Average western-style hotel in GREAT location.

good location, good teas provided in room

Although we could get only two single rooms we slept in one bed anyway :) The hotel is in GREAT location - only some 5 minutes of slow walk from 5-storeyed-pagoda-temples-compound and 20 minutes from Great Buddha statue. Which totally overweighted the hotel's unavailability of twin rooms. The center is maybe 10 minutes of walk, JR station maybe 20 minutes. All quite near. The staff was very friendly but spoke very bad engrish :) At the end we understood each other. The single rooms were quite small but for overnight stay it was OK. Everything was nice and clean.

Sunroute Hotel, Nara

Close to Nara Park Friendly staff Free internet access
8.7
The hotel is only about eight minutes’ walk from the station and a few minutes from the five-tiered pagoda, which is at the southern end of Nara Park and the temple complex. I found the staff friendly and helpful, and English was spoken so there were no communication problems. There’s free internet access via a computer in the reception area. My only criticism was that my single room was small, so unpacking a suitcase was a bit difficult, but it was comfortable in other respects. As I was staying only two nights it didn’t matter very much. The street where the hotel is situated is quiet, with very little traffic. I would certainly stay there again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: In addition to all the historic and scenic sights in Nara Park, there is a delightful pond near the hotel (on the way from the station to the hotel) which is host to some interesting wildlife, floodlit at night.

Great location

This hotel is in a great loaction. Very near the deer park and on the old side of Nara, so near the shops and attractions. Breakfast was a mixed buffet, room was smart with a reasonable view. Staff were excellent at providing travel advise for making the next difficult leg of our journey.
8.7
This really was the last hotel that had any spaces when I booked, and from the website I was not expecting much, especially as we prefer Japanese style hotels. It was a long walk across town from the JR station, but was in a great location for sightseeing, right next to the deer park and Pagodas. Staff were very helpful and spoke good English and the hotel looked clean and modern. We only spent one night here, but have no complaints about hotel. Best feature - Location.
Travel tip: If you don't mind a walk and your cases are mobile, then it is a straight line up through the old city up to the hotel or back to station. Don't let people send you up the main street, you will walk almost twice as far.

Perfect location for Nara Park

Good location for Nara Park. Staff happy to store luggage

The room was small and had a view of the carpark out the back, but was more than suitable for sleeping in which was all I used it for. The place was clean and the staff were very polite and spoke enough English to make life easy. I arrived early and they were more than happy to mind my gear while I went off exploring the local surrounds. Very close to Nara Park.

There are two railway companies that travel from Nara to Kyoto. JR is not the one closer to Sunroute Hotel, so use the other one (of which I already forgot its name...)
