This recently renovated hotel is located off the famous Via Veneto. A quick stroll takes you to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Villa Borghese. And being just 150 meters from the closest subway stop, the rest of Rome is easy to navigate. The rooms are palatial to say the least, with rich fabrics, a massive headboard, Egyptian cotton sheets, and hydrotherapy showers. Boasting an excellent location from which it is easy to explore all the major attractions, as well as providing a comfortable base to return to, Hotel Veneto Palace should definitely be considering when traveling to the Italian capital. Nice staff - modest rooms and amenities

Nice staff and location plus free in-room wi-fi

I decided last minute to book the Veneto for my last night in Rome. As a solo traveler, I wasn't looking for a 5 star experience - just a place to crash for the night with decent location and internet access. That's exactly what I got. Room (and bathroom) were ok. Wi-fi was easy to log into from the room. Shower was a bit odd (no tub and just a hand shower piece you need to take out of its holder and rinse yourself with like a pet being washed). If you're looking for a quick place to crash it's fine. Just remember you get what you pay for.

Beware of hidden fees

Safety of location good, not worth the investment otherwise

Booking the hotel was easy but upon arrival, we learned a different way of conducting business. We have travelled throughout Europe and the world, so, we're not novice when booking hotels in advance. Veneto Palace never disclosed on the booking agent that after the online payment of the hotel, we should incur other fees upon checking in. It's not much, just Euros 12 per room (the so-called city tax) but it's the undisclosed term of additional strings that come with the booking, not to mention it has to be paid in cash. I wonder why??? I like to keep my finances in order and i believe that the new Italian law issued in Feb 2012 does just that: discouraging disobedience of fiscal laws and pocketing cash, the easiest way of losing track of profits. I am appaulled that for the price we paid we have no internet, no breakfast included or parking, and yet, we are put in the position of "take it or leave it" upon checking in. Had it not been for the non-refundability of the booking, we would have changed plans right there on the spot. We have been at Ritz many times and in comparison, Ritz is the highest benchmark set in the hotel industry that we have experienced but have never be put in the position of demand which was taken by the staff of this hotel; i sincerely believe that they are trained how to deal with push-back on this subject, because they all come up with the same template answer. In fact, one of them went beyond his duties and asked the booking agent for explanations, than, a reply email stating that it's our responsibility to pay those additional fees fall into our care, fact that was not disclosed upon booking and payment of the rooms. Rooms are small, don't expect much; bathrooms are practically facilitated for comfortable use even though the mirror magnifier-vanity missed a screw to make it stay still, the overall is upgraded with good taste considering that the building is there since the XVIIIth century.
Hotel Feature Tip: The advertised facilities such as the spa were not advertised by the staff, not even in the welcome book found in the room. In fact, the stationary was so old and wrinkled that i would be ashamed to send a letter like that. Roof view is not accessible unless you consume a meal at the restaurant. So much for the comfort and leisure time spent at this hotel.

Needs a bit of upgrading

Good location
5.7
This is an ok hotel to stay if you are on a budget. The location is not very near (in my standards) to Spagna (shopping district). It is at a quite side of town though. No particular nice restaurants nearby that i know of. The room was a bit small and old and my room was facing the inside of the building, which was not very nice. There was no free internet so if you are first time in Rome, this is not so good as you need the internet to look for places to eat, etc.
Restaurant Tip: In Rome, buy a phone sim card that has a data line and look for nice restaurants to eat in. We were disappointed that many restaurants do not serve good food and if one is on a holiday, good food is so important. Some restaurants serve very crappy food (yes! even in Rome). We find that small traditional restaurants serve better food. Google it!

hotel is located in a quiet street and thus was able to get good rest in the evening. within walking distance to the spagna area which provided great shopping and metro station which can took us to most of the sites, find great restaurant around the areas where local eats, thus avoiding the typical tourist type of restaurant which are so common in rome..
Antonio F. Couples Italy, November 13, 2011

Staff were really friendly and very helpful. A wide variety of choices for breakfast excellent quality of food, great views of Rome from the breakfast room on the 7 floor. Well equipped Gym and Spa. The Hotel is also very close to serveral Banks and cash points so it's always easy to get Euros anytime of the day.
Restaurant Tip: Lots of good food to be had in restaurants on Via Vittorio Veneto with reasonable prices. About 5 Minute walk from the hotel.
