Comfortable stay, no frills

Location, access to transport, downtown hotel
Hotel Y De Montreal is part of the YWCA and they had a floor with hotel rooms and a floor for the hostel. The room was comfortable, albeit a bit small, but since we weren't in the room that much, it didn't matter. The hotel is located a block away from Rue Sainte Catherine which is one of the major streets downtown with lots of shops and there are a tonne of bars and pubs around. The bus to the airport stops a block from the hotel and the subway station is also a block away.

Good value for money

It's cheap, clean and comfortable
I was there for a few days at the end of my stay. It's right downtown and the bus to the airport stops at the next corner. The room was basic but clean and comfortable.

A nice place to stay in Montreal

Good location; 24-hour reception service; clean and well-equiped facilities
I stayed in this hostel earlier this month. This is my second time stayingin this hostel. Servcie: Some staff members are friendlier than others. In general, they provide well services to travellers and assist them to get to know the basic information that they need to know in their staying. room: I stayed in a provate room w/o bathroom. It has all the facilities that I need in my room including a small refrigerator, a small TV, a single bed, a sink and closet for storage. Location: Great! walking distance to everywhere including VIARAIL train station, Metro Stations, landmarks, and everything. Recommendation: I would definitely recommend this hostel to people who are not too demanding on luxuary setting and royal services.
Nightlife Tip: If you want to enjoy more the nightlife in Montreal, you may chose to stay in town on Fridays and over the weekend.

Clean and simple

the hotel was very simple and clean. it is not luxurious, but that is not expected with the price tag. it is ideally situated downtown montreal. close to train station.

good basic hotel

clean, good neighborhood,friendly staff, reasbnable
My stay was fine. The room is a little small but okay. The decorations are sparse and the bathroom is small but efficient and altogether comfortable enough.Looks like the rooms and hallway was recently remodeled. The floor could use an area rug.
Shopping Tip: close to many stores on St Catherine

Nice secure clean small room, ok with shared bath

secure, clean, convenient location, own sink
great small room in the heart of downtown. a bit far to walk from central station but nice and secure area to stay. very welcoming staff and helped with tourist spots etc. shared bathroom nice and clean and only a few doors down. own sink was a plus. clean sheets clean room. quiet at night. close to attractions and food and nightlife.

Great location

Great location close to the bar and night clubs close to the financial areas close to the old port close to the underground city
This hotel is very easy to get to from and to the airport as it is only about 15min cab ride away. The location is quite convenient as its right in the heart of the city. Its located on crescent street and so all the restaurants and bars are conveniently closeby. Its also close to nearby St.Catherine street so you can your shopping done and come back to the room to easily drop off purchases. Just remember if you come back after 10pm you need to press the buzzer so you can be let back in.
Restaurant Tip: If you don't feel like venturing too far for a restuarant you can cross the street to office tower and eat inside the food court , note most of the food court there caters to their office clientel and most of the shops close at 4pm. But they have many average price dishes in many of the plentifull restaurants inside.
