Kind owners sheltered me during the earthquake.
Hospitality, safety, comfort
I was at the hotel for one week. When I needed my visa extension, one of the owners Binaya, volunteered to send me to the immigration. He did it with heart, and it felt sincere. During the earthquake, is asked Binaya if I could come with him, as I was alone. He agreed, too me with him to look for his daughter through the semi apocalyptic streets of kathmandu and and brought me to his family. We experience the aftershocks together, and tremors after tremors. Amazingly, Binaya and family still treated me like a "guest" given such state we were all in. He and his extended families fed me and gave me shelter, made me feel comfortable and showed me love and respect. Binaya was also worried about me and kept calling me more than a dozen times when he found out that the military flight that was supposed to evacuate me, did not land. I slept in the airport and he insisted on taking me home till the flight was scheduled to come. He took me out from the airport the next day to get me some food and gave me one last hugs gooodbye. I was drawn to come to this hotel for a reason. Little did I know that I would come as a stranger and left as one of their family members. Currently the 3 owners are on a mission to give temporary relief aid to the 13 districts in Nepal, to villagers who are still waiting for aid. I admire their courage and sincerity. The Nepalese hospitality is second to none, and with sincere people like the owners of this hotel, Fanindra, Santosh and Binaya, I assure you that you are in good hands when staying at this hotel. The staff are always polite, and will pay attention to your needs. Thank you Hotel Zen Holiday, may you be revive your glory and be blessed for the coming years to come after this tragic event. Comfortable stay
Food, spacious rooms, value, helpful staff, good room service, very clean.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. Offered great value for money delicious Nepali food at the hotel restaurant. Early rise for hot showers. Overall a comfortable stay, but noise, considering its location in Thamel, it's difficult to avoid.

Staff, location, cleanliness
Excellent service by the staff, they go above and beyond to attend to your every need. Location is perfect, in the middle of Thamel. Rooms are clean, but noisy day&night (dogs, traffic, restaurant kitchen, generator), beds are extremely hard, wi-fi in-room poor. TV has 5 English-spoken channels, incl. HBO. Bathroom OK, hot water only in evenings.

Decent, quiet place cheap enough
Quiet location, friendly place
The large and new standard room is great for the price, but they also have small standard rooms which are very basic with worn furniture and old carpets. Friendly place in a quiet side alley just steps away from the Thamel shopping streets.

Hassle Free and Friendly
Excellent Staff, Good Restaurant, Great Location
I had a great time overall at the Zen Holiday. Very reasonable room and right in the middle of Thamel. The only complaint I had was the constant noise from the dogs barking at all hours of the night. This is more of a city problem, but it definitely impacts the comfort of the guests. If you get a room here request one away from the courtyard facing the temple. I know it is hard to manage, but it would be smart for the hotel to get together with other local establishments and find a way to reduce the noise of the barking dogs. Maybe I ask too much, but maybe my suggestion might spark some attitude change? That being said, the staff is fabulous and there is always an attempt to make you feel comfortable and one of the family. This is a great hotel with great value.

An Extremely Comfortable & Friendly Establishment
Location, Staff, Price
I had a very enjoyable stay at the Zen. I was always welcome with a big smile and a general concern for my well being. I knew the staff cared about my comfort and wanted to make my stay enjoyable. The room was open and airy and the facilities all worked well. Don't take this for granted in Kathmandu! There was adequate hot water, the cable tv worked and so did the wifi. Warning: if you stay here request a room away from the courtyard. The dogs are incessant and bark at all hours of the night. Be prepared for a barking serenade. If you want to get a good nights sleep choose a room on the other side. I honestly think the management should make efforts locally to control this problem because it affects the comfort and quality of the stay. Not just their problem, of course, but one that directly affects them.

Beste Lage für alle Touristen
Super Lage, hilfsbereites Personal und für dieses touristische zentrum relativ ruhig
Schwer zu finde, liegt in einer Einfahrt einer Seitenstraße. Die Verwaltung war sofort mit einem Zimmertausch einverstanden, da das Bett zu hart war. Dann war aber alles in bester Ordnung. Sehr freundliches Personal und hilfsbereit.

S'ochtends om 4.00 gewekt door lawaai onder mijn raam,( waarschijnlijk een generator), dit lawaai duurde tot 8.00, dus niet meer kunnen slapen. Boek gen taxi in dit hotel, je betaalt het dubbele

Ничего плохого про отель сказать нельзя, но и чего-то очень хорошего и уникального там не было. Горячая вода! редкость для Катманду )) но не очень чистые покрывала в номере, например...
