Better value elsewhere
Shower dirty, dangerousness and dismal. Uncovered extractor fan 2 foot from the shower head. The main switch for the power shower (joke) about 8 inches from the shower head. Toilet seat not attached to toilet. Towel rail hanging off the wall. Shelf at 45 degree angle. Towels stained. Staff have never learned to smile or say hello/ good morning. Breakfast- hot food was cold, orange juice and water Luke warm!! Tea in a small pot for everyone's use was always cold - no hot plate. The many antiques and local items were interesting but the business needs to remember it is a hotel and their staff need to be trained to international standards. Would not stay again although a good location for riverfront, night market and bars/restaurants.

Location, cleanliness, helpful staff,
Quirky decor furnished with Lao collectibles and antiques, we were made to feel welcome when we stepped in the door. Airport pickup was available and our room was ready for us although our flight arrived mid morning. Staff were helpful and a least one person was available who spoke good English on each shift, so they were able to arrange a car for exploring outside the city center and answer any questions we had. Location is perfect for being in the center of things and most of the interesting sites are within walking distance. Across from the park, there is a nightly market and people gather to exercise on the pavements, from line dancing to aerobics. In the evening it was great have a hot shower/bath and then to sit and look out over the river with a glass of wine and dissect the day. Rooms on the lower floors are probably noisier, but as the market wraps up about 10pm, this was not an issue for us. In the neighboring streets are a variety of restaurants, and recommend the Sinouk Cafe just up the street for a great cup of coffee, hot or iced. As the hotel is rated 3star, we didn't have unreasonably high expectations and we got what we expected. The room was clean, spacious and furnished comfortably, if eclectically, and bedding, pillows and towels smelled freshly washed. Although the inner spring mattresses on the opium bed bases were comfortable they had clearly seen better days creaking and dipping near the edge. The biggest disappointment was breakfast, which had been rated as good by other travelers. The choices were limited but perhaps that was because it is entering the low season. The best item was the eggs which were perfectly cooked, but unfortunately the coffee and breads were below expectations for a city known for them. Overall, it was a comfortable stay.

Interesting but not Boutique

Location, it’s a museum and the lobby s nice.
My room was big but the room and the bathroom need refurbishment, the Wi-Fi was weak so you had to go to the door to get a good signal and then the internet was not that good anyway. The hotel has many ancient artefacts from Laos which was interesting and the location was good.
