Interontinental should not let this hotel use thei
This is NOT up to Intercon standards for so many reasons. When we emailed the GM to tell him we were very disappointed and if he was interested we could give him details we never heard back. Pretty clear they do not care. The highlight was the concierge and one bellman. We requested a "quiet room, not near the elevator on a high floor" and were given a room on a low floor RIGHT NEXT to the elevator and between that and the maid's closet. They could not move us because they were full. I doubt any other guests made such a specific request so they just ignored our request. The communication was difficult because staff was not comfortable telling us they did not speak English. They kept telling us "yes" and then not doing what was asked. We have always had toiletries, bathrobes and slippers at every Intercontinental we have been to. This hotel did not have any of those items. The last night they moved us to a suite which did have those items so apparently only suites get those. There were mold stains in the bathtub and stains on the carpet. They put us in the handicapped room so the shower had a chair in it. There was no handheld shower which most handicapped people need in order to shower. The breakfast was marginal and the restaurant was ok for other meals but we had the same communication issues. The bellman was nice enough to park our car (they have no valet which was also very surprising). However, we had not ticket and the front desk could not figure out what to do since we thought we valeted but they have no valet. They just gave me my keys and I was left to find my car on my own in the underground lot. Maybe I am spoiled but I expect a certain level of hotel when I stay at an Intercontinental. Mendoza did not come close to that standard. I am sitting in Madrid typing this from the Intercontinental and I am very happy with this hotel! It deserves the Intercontinental name!

Very good hotel, but checkout problems
Large, modern rooms, nice pool, vast public areas
This hotel is new and modern with big rooms and nice views of the Andean front range. There is a casino attached and large shopping plaza across the street. Food in cafe was excellent. Two problems: 1. Location is outside of CBD, so a short taxi ride is required if the wonderful downtown restaurants and plazas in Mendoza are to be explored. 2. Most of the time the front desk was serviced by many people, but when we checked out on a Monday morning, there was only one person with authority to do this. We had a problem with our bill, as did the person ahead of us. Before long there was a queue of about ten people waiting, with flights and buses to catch. For some reason, the hotel did not want to accept that our booking with Agoda was prepaid. They insisted that it be charged again to our credit card. After over 20 minutes of argument, we had to leave to catch our bus to Chile, so the matter was unresolved. It spoilt our wonderful journey across the Andes. Next day, the matter was sorted out by telephone and email, but should not have happened. We were never able to ascertain why there was problem, but the hotel's accounting system seemed to have a glitch.

great hotel but far from the center
comfort & style
The hotel is of very good international standard. It comes a bit as a surprise to find it in front of a shopping and 10 min drive from the city center. This hotel only works for people with a car. Great rooms, great decoration in common parts too. Excellent breakfast. Finaly good service at the reception, the restaurant or rooms. Overall a super place...just a bit far ..which explains why it's excellent value for money.
