Room For Serious Improvement
Staff tries very hard to do their best, breakfast was ok and amenities functional
While promises of revamping system were showered to correct whatever caused this problem,the fact is the booked non-smoking King/twin bed was not available. It is not the first time this happened. First night could not breath because of cigarette stench, bed was improvised to a king bed (twin was what was available) with no head board lights. Promised someone would move the next day so we can take up non smoking room but somehow the guest didn't checkout or alternatively, we realized that the room had the same stench as the one you have so no use moving you. Incidentally, this is a cigarette stench suite on a non-smoking floor! I was finally moved to a non-smoking 2 King bed suite (boy and girl had to improvise since there was no twin room). It does appear that, since this is the second time it has happened in relation to smoking, no one checks guest requirements or pays attention to detail written on guest needs. I understand room carpets are being replaced and I hope that the couch/chairs get replaced soon, its worn out and dirt-stained. I have been coming to this hotel when I need to do something in Deira since 2011. It's still a decent hotel that is generally clean, especially bathtubs/bathrooms. If they put their act together and put diligence to customer bookings, control smoking and non-smoking zones with the same care and trash out worn out furniture, I have no doubt that they can restore confidence in this property to guests. Lastly, perhaps more important the staff is wonderful, always ready to help and do acknowledge mistakes when they are made. Not sure about the missus but willing to give them another chance.
