This is my own opinion based on my/our experiences at this place, I understand other people on here have different views and in fact it was the TA rating that made me book this hotel in the first place So first off when we arrived I thought that it was a very nice place, nice pool surrounded by plants and the grounds have a very rustic feel, but you don't stay in the grounds or by the pool, you stay in your room which is where everything went downhill. Our first room was on the ground floor, unfortunately anyone moving anyway on the upper floor including walking up the stairs made such a noise that it woke you, in fact thee whole room moved as these are all built of wooden frames. The air con unit in the rooms is from the 1980's and is therefore very out of date meaning very noisey, very ineffective and impossible to control. So our first night we didn't sleep. When I went to reception the next day the young girl was not surprised at all and even mentioned us changing rooms before I had brought it up, so i gather that it is an issue they are well aware of. We change rooms and go upstairs. The aircon unit in this room is even worse, extremely noisy. Wifi - It is not as stated available in rooms and around the pool, it is available in the reception only, and at speeds only achievable in the 1980's when the internet was invented But the piece de resistance on the last day whilst we were out sightseeing 'something' came into my room and destroyed, yes nibbled away, my rucsack so it now has a big hole in it and two of the compartments are rendered useless. When I went to see the manager my impression was that it was rats, but he assured me that it would have been squirrels and so i shouldn't cast aspersions.

Had a nice stay in this hotel. The pool area was great for relaxing when not out seeing the sights. The breakfast was nice, although I would advise getting there as early as possible, as it was pretty busy later on in the morning. The wifi was sketchy at best, although I think this is a problem in many hotels in Myanmar. The room was very comfortable and the staff were lovely. Will return some day!

We booked two of the cheapest rooms that are OK, good value for money. Staff was friendly and helpful. It is a good hotel, would recommend however to go for one of the more expensive rooms

Nice and relaxing stay at New Bagan

pool and garden, breakfast, nice staff
8.3
we stayed two nights there. We arrived at 5.30 in the morning and could directly in our room which was perfect. Staff was very friendly and organized bus tickets pick up etc. breakfast buffet was very good. Pool and garden very nice and relaxful. Also the massages we can recommend. The rooms are nice but very keen-eared. You can understand everything from the other rooms. We had a room in the southern part of the facility and it seems that there is a school or sth. like that next to the hotel. So it's very loud in the morning. We also had to pay a damaged glass which is in our opinion not ok. All in all I would recommend that place because the staff is friendly, you can relax after a trip through the tousands of pagodas and the breakfast is good. Unfortunately we had a room

Great staff, rotten facilities

The staff that is: 1) friendly; 2) helpful, and; 3) acommodating.

The shower was positioned so that getting into the shower/tub meant stepping into the declining edge of the tub (the side you would be leaning on if you were sitting in the tub). It was precarious getting in when the shower was dry, and dangerous when it was wet. There was also an electrical outlet IN the shower. That more or less sums up the facilities. In addition, the towels were incredibly thin. I actually tore one drying myself off. As the the wifi that is supposedly in every room; it is pretty much only available at the front desk, and sometimes not even then.
