A grand manor worth a visit

Beautiful estate, attentive owners,

A great experience! The Manor is a true manor that's more than a hundred years old, and it seems that the decorations were left as they were since then. Beautiful gardens, very friendly dogs, large, clean rooms and nice owners who made us feel at very much at home. Rooms and food are a little pricey, but well worth the experience.

Had a lovely stay!

The owners are very helpfull with information

This homestay place is very quietly located in a lush green garden, yet it's still very close to the city. Don't opt for the bungalow. the gaps above and under the door are letting mosquitoes in far to easy, the bed is not really comfy and the bathroom is not quite finished...showering on gravel is not fun. All in all this place is very recommendable as the owners are very helpful with loads of information about sri lanka.

Simple but relaxt in a beautiful surrounding

It's a home stay so nice and quiet, you have your own chalet in the garden

We were welcomed by the friendly owner and his two dogs. It is a bit outside the city but therefore nice and quiet. The nature around the place is beautiful, nice for a morning walk. The chalet is basic but has everything you need. Feels a bit adventurous.

Very short overnight stay

The atmosphere,character and history.
6.3
We only stayed here a night and had to go in the morning to get our flight. The room was nice and big but the beds (two twins stuck together) were very hard, lumpy and uncomfortable. Could have done with a mosquito net as we were completely ravaged in just one night. The mosquitoes were huge! The bathroom was pretty run down and could do with a touch-up here and there. The decor was very nice but as this is an older property there was a persistent smell of damp in the room which was a bit off putting. Also, although I like dogs, I was a bit shocked when I saw their rhodesian ridgebacks- very big dogs. Perhaps some guests might find these dogs a little intimidating. Overall, the place had character and the owners were very accommodating.

Great choice to visit kandy

Old house with a story, very friendly owner and great help

Only 4 rooms in this 300 plus year house. I wouldn't bother with the mud hut again as it is really really basic and without hot shower. The rooms are very spacious and with beautiful decor. Owner are srilanka couple who used to be expat. They understand what travelers need and they have been more than helpful, organizing day trips for all guests with very very reasonable price. Home cook dinner every night was delicious and it is a good place to relax. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone to stay here if you are visiting kandy.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: The Buddha is not worth visit. Just have a glance in the evening from far will be enough.

Best GH in Kandy

Location / Food / Owners'kindness
9.3
I highly recommend the Kandyan Manor. During our travel in Sri Lanka, it was the best place we stayed at. The location is perfect because it is outside the bustling city of Kandy but close enough to go there within 10 minutes by 3 wheelers. The atmosphere is cosy, the rooms are large, clean and simply but tastefully furnished. The dinner area is perfect for relaxation with a view on the nice and quiet garden. The owners are really welcoming and helpful. They try their best to attend to guests ‘needs. They take in charge the organization of journeys around Kandy and up to the north to visit the ancient temples. They give good advice on how to organize your time in Kandy. I have special thanks. She is really attentive, gentle and such a good cooker! All the vegetables and fruits are grown on their land. We had our best rice & curry at this place (I still dream about the eggplants and dhal).
