third visit

location / staff helpful / management nothing to much trouble
Every time great welcome by staff. Same staff the past 2 years. Very much at home.

Excellent Hotel Great Staff

The assistance from this hotel are very impressive. Good quality hotel in the heart of Thamel
Under trying times during my stay at Kathmandu due to several days of flight cancellations, the staff at Eco were so friendly and welcoming. They made my stay worth it. I would only stay here if I travelled to Kathmandu again

Service with a smile

Exceptional service from all members of staff. Really good dining for both breakfast and dinner.
Our stay at the Kathmandu Eco Hotel was quite delightful, the staff are not only pleasant but more than helpful. The location is excellent, being close to the bus station, close to a variety of restaurants and within 15 minutes walking distance from Durbar Square. We are looking forward to returning there in a few days time.

Noisy, smelly, nothing works
Why this hotel has such a high rating is a mystery. It is a low-end backpacker hotel that is not well maintained. The shower in my room did not work, the wifi did not work, the tv did not work, the telephone did not work, the bed was so old and smelled bad, the towels were grey, the water from the tap brown. Outside my window was a view into the toilet of the neighboring building. Every morning the groups of trekkers gathering at 7am made so much noise it woke me up. Many of the rooms do not have windows.

OK Hotel but good service from the staff

good service, location & maybe, the breakfast
It was an OK hotel. The water from the tap was a bit brown. And it was noisy from the people at the lobby as I was staying in low floor. At night, I could even heard music from a pub nearby. Luckily, the music stopped after 10PM or 11PM. Location wise, it's good - it's at the quiet side of Thamel. 15 mins walk to Durbar Square. Breakfast was buffet style and good. The staffs were friendly. They even got me a cheaper flight ticket to Pokhara. Yeah, the service was the one thing I will remember of the hotel.

Amazing service and location

Location, Service, Value
So I took advantage of the free airport pickup service and I flew into Kathmandu, but getting past immigration and finally getting my luggage basically took me over an hour and a half. I was sure the driver must have left, but nope, sure enough in the cold, he was waiting for me. This kind of service with a smile is basically what I got throughout my whole stay. It was incredible. The hotel restaurant was fantastic and yes they have a backup generator, wifi and hot showers. The only sticking point, which isn't the hotel's fault but more to do with Thamel, dogs bark constantly at night. So if you're a light sleeper, it's a bit hard. And when I had to extend, they were completely booked but were able to help match my rate into their sister hotel, which just opened. Seriously, location cannot be beat and the service is top notch.

I only stayed one night

Nice location, helpful info
I booked the hotel as it seemed convenient. I only stayed there one night and moved to Nirvana Garden Hotel at the other side of Tamel as the staff was trying to sell me tour packages which was a bit much and overwhelming when I just arrive.

Great Thamel location

A good, clean standard tourist hotel. In an excellent location if you are visiting Thamel.
This hotel is perfectly located for checking out the sights of the Thamel district. The rooms are generously sized. Try to get a room facing the street (room numbers ending in 4 & 5) so you can take in all the activity going on below. Also has a lovely roof top terrace garden which is great for watching the sun set over Kathmandu.
