Bad location
It is hidden far away from the main road, and the road leading into the lodge need some climbing and walk about 2km and get worst if it rains. Hence, if you have big luggage, you need to get a taxi. And not all taxi are willing to go in. Those taxi that are willing to drive in charged RM20

Fantastic spot with a view in the mountains
I can definitely recommend the Kinabalu Mountain Lodge! The view is spectacular and it is a perfect place to unwind after a day of hiking or after climbing the mountain. There is not so much to do, which makes it perfect for sitting, relaxing, reading and chatting with the other travellers. The dorm has individual pots, so you will have your own space and will not be bothered by other guests (e.g. when switching the bedlight on/off)

Location very far from Kinabalu National Park
The lodge website info was inaccurate it says 2 km to Kinabalu NP but the actual distance was between 3.5-4.0 km to the national park. For those without a vehicle it was a big disappointment. On a positive note, the lodge was quite clean with nice jungle view.

Basic Kinabalu accomodation
Close to the upper park entrance and the 'climb' this lodge offers good basic accomodation. It is a 2 k walk to the park entrance and the walks offered in the upper section. The up side is the great view, and being on the edge of the rainforest there is abundant bird life, a great array of moths at night, and a knowledgable staff. The downside is shared toilets quite far from some rooms, no wifi, and only very basic food. There is a social, trekker and backpacker atmosphere and some great books on Sabah and it's amazing environments. Rough around the edges, but fun.

Wonderful lodge with cute receptionist !!
Although the road going up to the lodge are steep and slippery after rain, your journey to the lodge will guarantee you a wonderful scenery from top of the lodge and cute receptionist will welcomed you for check-in. But, some of wild dogs here is a little bit let down for me. The dog keep barking when I'm trying to exit the wood door for morning walk.

Lovely Lodge!
Simple setting, cozy and friendly environment, clean room (nice white bedding), clean shared toilets, low water pressure but good enough to have a warm shower + hair wash. Very narrow road leading to the lodge, and steep at the last 40m, but I hv seen a couple of the lodges/residences in the area are of the same (narrow + steep). Very helpful, friendly and easy staffs.

A memorable stay at Kinabalu Mountain Lodge
Despite a very steep road to the Lodge, the view is so stunning. The lodge is suitable for those who like to see and experient the nature. The staff are so kind and the surrounding is so tranquil. I would love to go back to this place.
