Nice and large room but not entire smoke free

Large room, Walking distance to Qianmen Stree, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, Subway
Lovely room and comfortable bed. The hotel located within the walking distance to Qianmen Street where you can find nice local foods, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. The subway is also within the walking distance. The level that we are staying wasn't fully smoke free. Along the hallway you will see some guest smoking freely along the hallway. Hope the managment would look into this.

Not so Grand

Beds wer comfortable, nicely appointed room
We were at the hotel for three nights and while we liked the rooms, there were a number of issues that rather ruined our stay. First, there was no heat in the rooms, apparently a government mandated policy to turn off all heat in Beijing on March 15. Even in April it was cold there and not comfortable at all. Second, if you have any problems at this hotel, no one speaks good English and its essentially impossible to get your points across. The only well speaking English person was the manager in the restaurant in the morning, Billy, he's nice and willing to help. The food in the hotel is just fair, eggs tasted rather strange to us westerners. Also, this hotel is difficult to find, it's hidden off a main drag and our first cab driver drove around and around looking for it and finally called the hotel to get better directions.

Excellent value for money

The location was excellent, easy to go to all the major interest points. The bed and bathroom were absolutely amazing and very big. The hotel hotspring was the best bonus in such a central location.

Kingrand Stay

Great location Helpful staff lovely rooms
Staff were really good and opened up the dining room when we arrived on the first night after closing time. All staff were keen to please and a joy to deal with on the whole. Did not expect to have to pay extra to use hot spring pool when staying as a guest. Also it was not made clear that the payment only covered a short period rather than being able to come and go using other hotel facilities like food and swimming pool. Otherwise stay was great and the hotel is beautiful.

Lobby, Garden and price
So the Kinggrand looked great from the pictures online and it wasn't very difficult to access by taxi. However, whoever trained the staff really needs to be fired. The concierge was not helpful. When we asked them to call a taxi to go to the forbidden city they told us to just walk there as taxis won't be available because of the rain. The forbidden is probably a 40min-1hr by foot and we had luggages as well. The first room we were supposed to stay in smelled like cigarette smoke but they did transfer us to a better room which was nice. You need to wear a shower cap in order to use the pool and if you need help don't count on the staff. I have to say that with this hotel you can't really trust the reviews as they may have been skewed by employees or exterior alliances in order to boost the hotel's rating online.

Clean room, terrible service

Clean, comfortable, quiet room
Clean and comfortable room but our stay was ruined by terrible service. The staff spoke very poor English which made everything hard work. We have stayed in many other hotels in china and have not had this problem. Checking in and out was extremely slow! Frustrating when you have a train to catch. The staff also serve anyone who pushes in first, even though they see you stood there waiting. Even when you act as rude as everyone else and push your way to the front, they still serve the people who speak Chinese first. We tried to order a train through the hotel but was told the tickets were sold out. It wasn't until we asked him to check for the following day and he just said no (without even looking) that we realised he just didn't know what he was doing. We went to the station ourselves and bought the tickets. It took us 3 hour to find our way, buy the ticket and get back when it should have been a 5 minute job sorted out by the concierge. All other hotels have been able to get our tickets. We ordered room service on the first night and it was lovely. However, on the second night it was do bad that we left it. The soup could only be described as dishwater containing slimy salt balls and the rice had no taste all. I explained this on check out but the woman just stared at me and then carried on as if I hadn't spoken. And she could speak English. Internet was also slow and often didn't work at all.

Lived up to its name

Bed, room layout, service
It was as grand as one would expect it to be. I just wish that they open the pool to guests for free.

High on comfort, low on convenience.

Beautiful infrastructure, asthetics, value for money
It was very comfortable, language, food availability, and getting a taxi are issues.Nothing for the entertainment, gets lonely in the evening.
