Hotel pretending to be a Ryokan

Big room
We stayed in 6 different hotels during our 2 week trip to Japan and this was the most disappointing and the most expensive. The hotel is absolutely fine but just lacks something that makes you like it. Location is not that great, you can walk from the station but the number 9 bus is probably a better bet. We stayed downtown on a previous visit and prefer the downtown area to the station area as a place to stay. The room is quite nice, we had traditional Japanese room, and was decent size but they have cut corners in the bathroom, no Japanese toilet seat, this was very disappointing as they are everywhere. No wifi in the room!! This was very surprising and annoying as it is good to plan the next day on your phone while in bed. There is wifi in lobby, and also a computer which you have to pay for if you want to use it! It says it is a Ryokan but there was no Onsen (japanese bath), it all seemed just a bit fake to me. It was ok, just lacked atmosphere.

Poor meal, cold & narrow room, high price

good location, good location, good location
The breakfast was poor and meager. The room was clean but cold and narrow. Inspite of its good location, the hotel does not worth such high price.

Nice room, good staff

Room big and nice. Good staff.
The hotel and room look nice and clean. The room make me feel different than other hotel. Staff can speak English and give good service. But the hotel is far from the train station.

Lovely first Japanese ryokan experience in Kyoto

Staff, location, room
Really enjoyed my stay here. Staff spoke great English and were very helpful. A couple of things worth mentioning...no freebies...tea,coffee,laundry etc all chargeable. I also found some of the guests incredibly noisy. Slamming doors and loud chatter which carried throughout the building and especially the central garden/walkway where my room was. Other rooms at the back, or the western rooms, might have been quieter. That said, I was travelling alone and being quiet as a mouse so other people's noise is always more noticeable - Ryokans can and do have thin walls I guess.

the staff were amazing, the suggestions were great, the Japanese style was awesome
I love it. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I didn't eat here at all. We choose to sleep in instead.

Just Nice - Family feel

English speaker available, Very friendly staff, around 15 minutes walk to Kyoto station
It is a very nice small hotel with very nice Japanese design. Clean and super friendly staff to provide you all kinds of gudiance including selling daily bus ticket. it is not that easy to find which around 15 minutes walk from Kyoto station. It is a nice try and you will feel warm and comfortable. Strongly recommend. only thing is that no WIFI in Room and very slow speed in the hall too.
