Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Perfect Hotel in a perfect location

Price found in agoda for this hotel was excellent for the high quality of the hotel.

First of all we found a perfect price in Agoda, cheaper than all the other hotels we stayed in Japan. Then once in Kyoto, was very easy to access to the hotel by taking a bus from the station to Kawaramachi - Sanyo bus stop where you can see the hotel right on the other side of the street. When you arrive to the hotel the staff was kind, helpful and all of them have good english level. The room was big (take care if you want one or two separate beds if you dont want your girlfriend to swift to your single bed), the bathroom totally occidental. It has a good (quite expensive) whisky bar on the lobby with happy hour from 5 to 7pm. And if you want to move around Kyoto they can sell you a bus-day ticket which we strongly recommend to purchase.
Hotel Feature Tip: For this price it is the best hotel for staying some days in Kyoto. Take the bus for going to this hotel and also to move all around Kyoto (much better than the subway). It is also close to a night-live area near the river where you can find good restaurants and pubs.

New and Clean

Location is good as near the shopping area

Overall is good but a bit difficult to find it, better to provide a clear route from station. E.g. exit no
Shopping Tip: just around, it is convenience

Good Location and Service

Staffs speak good english, close to public transportations and shopping area

Hotel has good location and service. Within walking distance to a few of the major shopping department stores (1010, Takashimaya) and complexes. Bus stops and subway stop are close by as well for accessing other sight-seeing places or areas. Rooms are a little old but still well maintained and clean. Staffs speak good english and are helpful with most requests. This is a large sized hotel, so breakfast time is a little hectic as the small cafe/restaurant where they serve breakfast is not spacious enough at peak times.

Good Location, good service

location, english speaking staffs, service

The hotel is within walking distance to a few major shopping areas and malls. Subway station is just around the corner. Staffs were helpful with providing sight-seeing information and speak good english. Check-in and check-out process were smooth. Rooms were decent size for Japanese standard, the decor was a little dated, but was kept clean and tidy. The windows of these rooms could be opened wider than most other hotel, which was quite important to me when travelling in winter in Japan, as the heat system in Japan is too strong and drying even with full control of the temperature within the room. Breakfast was alright.

Good location but rooms felt old and shabby

Convenient to a lot of amenities

having read a lot of reviews, i must say i've expected a bit more of the hotel. in the us, this type of hotel would be regarded to as "motel", never "royal". the room was ultra-small and shabby looking. we had no where to open our suitcases. the beds were hard and pillows were filled with some pebbles which caused a pain in neck and ears. for the price we paid/night, i really would have expected much more. the staff was nice indeed, but their lack of english (concierge) was annoying. they would give us suggestions on where to go and how but would not mention a one-day bus pass, for example, which is very useful. they also could not recommend a tour agency (or did not understand what we were asking for). the buffet nye dinner, which was the only food option, was mostly seafood and if you are allergic to it - they had roast beef which they'd slice pre-cautiously into 2 tiny slices and that's all you get. when asked for more, a look was given before "ok". as much as we loved kyoto, and we really did, i am sorry to write, but the hotel did not provide for us with what's necessary on a holiday trip - a good nights sleep. free lan in room was one obvious good point.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Shopping is really fantastic and I am not a shopper at all. So go out to the many little streets looking like a big labyrinth and enjoy all the cool stuff they have. If you are into nice shoes, save your shopping for Japan, but be aware of their maximum sizes (US 9 for ladies and US 9.5 for men).

The staff were very informative. Hotel is nice, spacious, and great location (close to train station, shopping street, and just beside the Cathedral). Food is ok, even though we had the same food for 3 days there. Around the hotel easily to find food, convenience store, and bus stop to many tourist destination.
Shopping Tip: Less than 5 minutes walking distances to Shopping street.
