Short Stay in Darlinghurst

The 2 men on the reception, the location, the balcony

Not bad, had to ask for soap for the shower, unfortunately I didn't notice until I was in the shower, and two days running had to ask for milk for coffee in the morning, coffee, tea, sugar and jug all supplied

Terrible

Dreadful Hotel. Cleanliness and state of room very poor. As far as I could tell, the person next door had clients all night. At one stage I felt threatened due to a very loud and aggressive argument next door. The person next door then knocked on my door at 5.30am to ask if she could come through my room, via the balcony to her room, as she had locked herself out!!! Worst night in a very long time. Would never go back there.

overrated, overpriced, unsafe

location
3.3
Upon arrival (about 4pm), there was no staff at the reception. After ringing the doorbell and waiting for a while, we noticed a note on the wall that the staff can be contacted in one of the rooms upstairs. The guy then finally checking us in was helpful, but took ages to get things done, as he appeared to be quite distracted. Once we got to the room, we first had to remove a large metal blind to get in. That very piece had obviously been removed from the wall above the bathroom, where we now had a huge hole through which an adult person could easily have crawled in and out of our room. Although we were promised that this would be fixed immediately, nobody ever turned up again to do so. Not quite a good feeling, cosidering the people sitting on the stairs everytime we went up and down. Also, the door to the shared balcony is unsafe. The WiFi password we had been given didn't work, but again there was nobody at the reception to take care of it. The room floor was dirty, and so was our bed. The remote for the AC didn't have batteries. The only exception was the bathroom, which was clean and had hot and cold water. A plus was the nice receptionist allowing us to store our luggage for a couple of hours after checking out. In summary, we can recommend this place only to budget backpackers looking for adventure. This place should not be given three stars and is overpriced.

Best value for money

great and helpful staff, clean, and good location
9.3
I booked for 3 nights and what I paid was all worth it. Its a 3 star hotel so just expect the basics -- fresh towels, sheets, aircon, toiletries, hot water, a fridge and so forth. John and the other guy ( i forgot the name) were courteous, pleasant and very helpful. Room WiFi available for 5 aud a night. I will definitely stay here again when I'm in town.

Avoid the rooms on the back

Location location location
4.7
The location is great, but the rooms on the back are really poor, no windows, and very noisy because of the conditioning systems on the roofs of the buildings nearby. The rooms on the front (on Darlinghurst Road) are bright, bigger and they have a small balcony. If you have to stay there, please ask for the rooms on the front, never ever accept a room on the back. No lift.

A Pleasant stay

Location, Staff, Location
7.3
For the price the location is great. The rooms are average but clean. The bathroom could do with an update but OK for the price. The staff, especially the day manager Chris, are great and did their best to make our stay enjoyable.
