as an explorer, here's my spin...

well Known ti tuk tuk drivers. Room spacious, clean beds
The stay was alright, could not figure out the air conditioning, or it was broken. Helped arrange private car to airport. That was good. Staff should be cleaning their work area instead of texting . In the restaurant for breakfast, fly in food , spider webs hanging from ceiling, and curtains looks like it has been there since the place been built.

Lost in Lao

Room layout ,Lobby style,has breakfast
I felt vulnerable and unsafe at this hotel. The sheets were dirty and had hair in them. The staff tried to help when they could but English wasn't well spoken that is okay because this is Laos. It's a long way from any attractions and constant haggling with tuk tuk drivers is annoying. I went back to get my cell charger and they couldn't seem to find it it wasn't in the room. The window to the room didn't lock anyone could easily have gotten in from the balcony. So they provided lockers at the front desk they were not secure. I thought it was overpriced for what was available

My Four day trip

Closeness to Thai embassy, Ease to get to the city, Not noisy if you at the rear of the hotel away from the road.
My stay was basically for a Visa to return to Thailand, I stayed 2 days extra to explore the town and various tourist areas. It was a nice time and would stay again if needed too.

Supremely Mixed Review

Friendly, Location, Price
I stayed 3 days waiting for my visa. It's a good location for getting your visa. Honestly, this place wasn't that bad. It's supremely mixed. The breakfast is pretty bad, but the adjoining restaurant is fabulous! Very few staff speak English, so you have to use Google translate if you have an issue. That said, they are quite friendly. The bed is comfortable, room spacious and A/C works well. The shower head was broken and sprayed everywhere. Hot water works. Decent shelving and storage space, hot water heater (which wasn't super clean) and loads of electrical outlets, which I really like One of the staff knocked and then entered my room at 7:30 AM and I freaked out! LOL... Poor girl, I'm sure I yelled loudly, but seriously? I got a quick, "kaa tote kaaaaa" and she ran away. They'll do your laundry and they will do their best to please at La Ong Dao. It's kind of weird, but for $20 it's a fair deal.
