Lovely place for budget travelers
The guesthouse has a great location right next to Jonker street (excellent for the night market that happens Fri-Sun). People here kept to themselves mostly, so it would be ideal for someone looking for a quiet place to stay with your own room. The room itself is quite bare - wish there was a bit more furniture to put your bags - but otherwise fine. I got the room with the window which, ironically, you shouldn't really open. Otherwise, you may end up like me and wake up with your legs swollen from mosquito bites! It wasn't the fault of the hotel though, and lesson learned for me. There was a short while when the water wasn't working (showers, toilets, sinks), but I let the staff know and they got it up and running in minutes. And when they saw the bites on my legs, they gave me and insistent I use a bug repellent machine(?) in my room. They also offer laundry+detergent for a mere 5 ruppiah if you need it. No breakfast, but there is no shortage of food options in Melaka. I needed to get some work done while I was here, so the peace and quiet was nice. Id look at other options if you're interested in hostels with a stronger social scene though

Pleasant stay, prime location
Pleasant stay, extremely prime location, convenient. The flooring was quite scantily done. Toilet facilities weren't that ideal. But given the amount I paid, it's worth it. There are no blinds too. Bright lights can spill in and disrupt sleep for light sleepers. Do bring an eye mask if you'd be affected by this.

Good getaway with girlfriends
It was a really fun experience staying over at Layang Layang. This is the first time I am staying at a Guest House. I have read through quite a number of review to ensure that Layang Layang is a OK-ish place and found that most of the review is quite good. Not disappointed at all, Me and my girl friend took the standard room since is only 1 night. Really basic room (Standard Room) with only 1 King Bed,Side Table and Aircon inside. Toilets and bathroom are combine and throughout my stay I dont have to wait for my turn. Layang Layang receptionist are really friendly by showing us around and explaining the facilities which are included. The only 1 thing we were not happy is that, we were wide awake at 9.00am when there is loud walking sound on the 1st floor and it lasted for hours. Later we realise that the sound was from the male housekeeping attendants. 1 advice, try to walk softly and definitely NOT like a Gorilla which is out for a food hunt. Beside that, It is really a fun place to stay.

value for money
exotic internal design, excellent location, friendly staff
Very noisy if your room is at the main corridor side as the wall is very thin, you can hear every words from outside the room. Other pros: value for money, clean, excellent location and friendly staff
