Wonderful courtyard, but poor rooms

Courtyard and it's traditionality
Rooms weren't quite clean and wifi was very slow. But the courtyard is worth seeing. Rooms are ok for sleeping, but I wouldn't recommend them due to uncleaniness.

A beautiful hostel with old Chinese charm

Cleanliness, staff assistance, price
We enjoyed our stay at Leo hotel immensely. We stayed in a dorm on second floor which had a bathroom attached. There were 6 sets of bunks but divided into 2 rooms so never felt crowded. The room was always clean and nice and sunny/airy on 2nd floor. The staff at the front were helpful in English to assist us with directions, bus timetables etc. I highly recommend the Great Wall hike tour - the guide was lovely, professional and escorted us by bus to a remote area of the Great Wall which was breathtakingly beautiful an we were some of the only visitors in this section of the wall, it was well worth the money!

Good place, but they lie

Location, hall
The hostal is beautiful and the staff is quite nice. It is true that the room was wet and you could smell humidity, but even so we were really good. The only problem (but quite important from our point of view) appeared when we paid for a tour to visit the great wall. They ensured us these conditions: 1) No tourists. 2) No sellers. 3) Guide included. 4) Time enough to visit the wall. 5) All spenses included. 6) Visit to restored and unrestored parts of the wall. But the night before they told us that the bus was broken, so that tour was impossible. They offered to us another tour. We made sure that the conditions were the same. They told us that it was even better (less tourists... ) and they said that they price of the new tour was more expensive but they maintained the price of the previous tour for us. But the truth was that: 1) There were tourist (buses with tourists arrive there) 2) We saw a couple of sellers on the wall and a lot of them close to the entrance. 3) The guide only made 20-minutes-speech on the bus and helped us to get the tickets. After this, nothing; 4) We had only 3 hours to visit the wall since we arrived. But actually we spent 30 mins to get the tickets and to get the wall from the parking. So we did not have time enough to enjoy our visit in a calm way. 5) We had to pay the cable car to get the great wall. You can go up walking, but if you do that, there is no time to visit the wall. 6) It is true that you can get some non-restored parts of the wall. But you only can arrive to some point where is not possible to go through. So, our opinion is that the hostel is OK, but they clearly lied when we contracted the tour.

No good!!!

the courtyard is beautiful, nice hot water
Our overall experience was quite bad. The hotel is located 15 min walking from qianmen square/metro line and is the cheapest we could find around that area. When you first get in the first thought is that the courtyard is very beautiful with its plants and fishes. When we saw the room was ok, not the best one but neither the worst one. After the first night is when everything started... the bathroom had a horrible smell you could not get rid of it at all. After the first day the staff was not friendly any more and the cleaning lady every day between 9 to 10 am knocked on the door 2 times screaming something in Chinese without caring if you are sleeping or not.And even try to open the door (good we always locked in from the inside). Once I went out one minute to fill my bottle of water while my boyfriend was still in the room, the lady went inside (without asking for permission) and screamed at us for leaving the towels on the floor. We freaked out so much. I can highly consider this place one of the worst we've ever been. Also was freezing cold everywhere

Not the greatest spot to stay in

The proximity to central areas, the cheap price
The hotel room we got was terrible. There was a smell of humidity in the room, no windows, only a window to the hall, where people smoke and you can hear everything (thin walls). The bathroom was kind of Grosse. This place is doable if you want a cheap room in Beijing, but don't expect much.

stressed, not that convenient

nice staff working in the bar.
I was just there for one night, I had to change to another hotel because it was really really noisy in the dorm. and the bathroom is not that clean. the hotel location is way too far down in the alley. the receptions dont really care about you. yes they still do their jpb.
