Great Staff!!! clean rooms, lovely pool

Staff, Rooms, Pool
I really enjoyed this hotel and an initial 'niggle' was sorted out quickly by James the manager and his lovely staff who were always friendly and kind. The Reception was efficient and sorted a problem for me as fast as they could and I am confident it won't be repeated. If non-smoking is important to you I do advise you double check to avoid disappointment. Very clean, great Pool, great food. I will go going back - I have tried the rest over the last 15 years and the Lewis Grand, despite a few minor issues, will be my first choice next trip. WELL DONE to the staff with their lovely smiles even when they have a frustrated foreigner in front of them :) I have given the hotel 5 out of 5 apart from the dining and that 'only' get's 4 out of 5 because they only have one wine in stock (in 3 varieties) but that's a small 'niggle'. Overall 5 out of 5 to the Lewis Grand - see you early next year!!!

Worst hotel experience! Incompetent and poor service. We decided to stay here to rest before the event (which will be held in their function room that day) but instead of rest before the party, STRESS is what we got! We came all the way from manila, and even called them up that we are on our way. 45 minutes of waiting before we check in, aircon is not working in our room, and when i called the front desk they told me they will send a staff to fix it, So he came, imagine us there staring at the maintenance man while pouring water in the aircon to melt the ice? and the sofa is super wet and off aircon, i called the front desk again,and told them that what adjustment can dey offer? And told me "sorry ma'am but there's nothing we can do no available rooms in your reserved category" wow! That's a red flag for me this time, why you keep getting reservation/booking if you dont have sufficient rooms? so this time i demanded for another room, i cant take this anymore! Such a poor service, very disappointed first the check in time then this, so they transferred us to another room which is smaller than the first one but this time the bathroom is see-through. Honestly? We travel as a family, not a honeymooners, where's the privacy in this room? So i called them up, asking this time for the duty manager, but no duty manager duty as what they told me, so i asked for the GENERAL MANAGER and keep me waited 2-3 minutes and told me that he's on a meeting so again, so in short no available higher position to talk to! they transferred us again! This time i dont care about the details of the room i need to be prepared on the event; imagine 5pm call time of the event, its already 430 pm and still stressing in your service. Could you imagine the stress the we got from your very poor service? To end this review, before we go to sleep, there'a a cockroach in our room! This is the worst hotel experience ever!

Inefficient Front-Desk Staff

Check-in and check-out was a bad experience for us. We arrived at the hotel past 1PM. We were told by the front-desk staff that the room has already been cleaned but check-in is 2PM which is fine with us. Five minutes past 2PM and we're still not being asked to go to the room. We approached the front-desk to ask what time we're going to the room and she said that the key is just being prepared. So if the room was ready since 1PM why not prepare the key ahead of the 2PM check-in? There were no other guests checking-in/out during the period that we were waiting so I was wondering had we not approached her, would she already process our check-in? We are a frequent traveller and been to several hotels across the country but this check-out was the worse. We left the room at around 11AM and we're the only guests to check-out during that time. We were told that the room will just be checked so we waited. Twenty minutes have passed and the four of them in the front-desk have already completed processing other guests who checked-out AFTER us and we were still waiting to be called. I again approached them and told them I was the FIRST to check-out how come mine was not yet processed and they prioritized the other guests? Also, they claimed that we took an item from the bar which we didn't. They insisted that one item was missing, so I said, look, we didn't take any but I would just pay even if we didn't just to get out of this hotel since we already wasted time waiting. The bathroom is also not so friendly for persons with disability like me because the shower area is in the bath tub which could be very difficult for PWDs to get into and out of the bath tub. There is also no bidet which is one of the necessities and Lewis being a 4-star hotel does not provide this. Food is good and serving is okay, restaurant staff are also nice and welcoming/accommodating to guests. Househeeping also responded quickly to our request for extra blankets.

Location, Service & Pool
Stayed at the Lewis Grand as we were getting married- enabled a large group of people to be with us during the ceremony etc. Everything pretty much went to plan and everyone was impressed with the hotel. Will definitely look to stay there next time.

It's OK

room service, lounging around the pool, people watching
The Hotel has some grandeur as conceived. It looks like parts of it like the restaurant were renovated in the '80s as the style doesn't match and looks a bit cheap. The room was simply "OK", like on par with a Holiday Inn. The staff was not trained -- so it all boiled down to the individual. Some were great. Most were average. Some were poorly informed about the basics of the hotel itself. 24 hour room service was nice for morning cappuccinos and late night cocktails. Lounging by the pool was a treat as that part of the hotel maintains it's '60s charm.
