ideal place to relax but not at the beach
beautiful garden, stylish rooms, friendly staff
This place is a bit difficult to find. It is a well hidden guest house located a few hundreds meter from the beach. It is just a guest house/B&B so you have to go for dinner outside but there are plenty of good restaurants in walking distance. But you better take a flash light with you when returning in the night as there is absolutely no road lighting. We recommend that you stay close to the Hotel Wunderbar as you can use the facilities of the hotel. Don't even think to go to the Taj Hotel as the hotel security is pretty rude.

chic and stylish
Design, location, staff
This is a very beautifully designed small guesthouse. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach, and to restaurants. A 10minute tuk tuk to Bentota, the lagoon and the other adjacent town. Breakfast is simple, yet attractively served, which makes it all special. The attention to detail is incredible. The rooms are pretty, and the lounges are decorated tastefully, and yet are comfortable to relax in. The only disappointment during our stay was that there is no staff available for tea or coffee from 7pm - 7am. and this is the only guesthouse out of 12 during our month in Sri Lanka where we were not offered dinner. We were 'recommended' to a local restaurant which was much more expensive than all of the others in the town and was on top of the rail track. However I would return,, but with a kettle and teabags.

awesome and simply amazing!
extremely attentive staff, very warm hospitality, close to beach
I spent 4 nights in Sri Lanka, and this is the BEST accommodation! this villa is next to the railway station and merely 300m away from the beach. the hospitality is amazing. the manager contacted my driver to find out about our location, he stood outside the main gate to welcome us in. and we were given garlands and welcome drink. there is also free wifi in the area. room wise, the only gripe was that the room had no aircon and it has some insects (its kinda outdoor). otherwise, nothing was bad. it was huge, the bed has a mosquito netting to prevent insects from getting in. it has a outdoor bath and toilet. the concept is great! breakfast was so amazing. the staff were well trained. they re-filled our bread basket, gave us fruits and cooked us scrambled eggs. it was simple but yet sufficient and well-thought out with the fruits and toasted bread. when we left the place, all the staff came out to the main gate to send us off. what can I say? this is one of the most amazing places I ever stayed at. and its so close to the beautiful beach. I highly recommend here!

Enjoyable stay at this hotel
Ambience, food and close to a lovely beach
We really enjoyed our stay at Lily Village. Set amongst beautiful gardens but very close to the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast excellent, the dinner that we had was one of the nicest during our stay in Sri Lanka. We originaly booked the Pearl bungalow but this was a little small and hot but were able to change to a room in the main house with a wonderful outdoor bedroom.

Beautiful place, Wonderful staff and good food
Beautiful quiet place, Wonderful staff and good clean food.
Lilly Village is a very secluded guest house yet only 5 minutes walk to the beach. We went there for Christmas. Staffs were excellent, very well managed; the manager couldn't be more helpful he even came in on his day off to allow us check out later than planned. The food was fantastic much better than a few of the 4 and 5 star hotels we tried in the area. The only thing we could fault was the owner. She didn’t communicate with at all and didn’t seem very pleasant to her staff. I don’t believe this was a cultural difference as she was French.

Tastefully decored boutique hotel; friendly staff
Kitsch french decor, fresh off the fields breakfast, friendly staff
Me & my wife are avid travelers who started off as backpackers & now like to stay in boutique hotels every once in a while. I'm so glad we stayed at Lilly Village, a tastefully done hotel with such tranquility that I can spend time writing a book. Our room came with a nice private balcony. The owner of this place is aesthetically extremely sound, must say. The entire decor, the french lounge music, mouth-watering omelettes, fresh fruits made our stay a memorable one. Highly recommend this place.

Great interior design and attentive staff
Great food, friendly staff comfortable bedroom
This small hotel has been very carefully designed by the owner (we believe) so our room had a 4 poster bed with mosquito nets, antique furniture and a huge outdoor but very private bathroom! The chef is excellent and we enjoyed all the food we had here (5 evening meals and 6 breakfasts)- in fact this was the best food we had in Sri Lanka and we were travelling around the country for 3 weeks. There are also 2 large sitting areas which are beautifully designed, plus several covered outdoor seating areas too. This is a great place to relax, read and enjoy your surroundings.
