Relaxing weekend getaway
We spent two nights at Lone Pine with two young children. The room was huge - it had a receiving area with a daybed that could sleep two people, a big bedroom, wide veranda and bathroom with a full size bath tub. We stayed in a corner suite, which had a slightly bigger cut. The hotel feels a bit shabby chic. Breakfast was average, though it did have a good selection of local fare. We spent much of our time at the pool - very inviting set up, with teepees, bean bags and comfortable deck chairs all around. However one side of the pool had lots of old floating pine needles, leaves and whatnot. I asked staff to clean it as you had to wade through it to get into the pool but I guess it's a fruitless exercise since the tree branches were positioned over the pool (so things would fall into the pool anyway). The restaurant's roof also had layers and layers of old pine needles and since the roof was angled, logically those old pine needles ended up in the pool as well. Location also walking distance to Long Beach hawker centre which is one of the top five hawker centres in Penang.

Bad Experience
We stayed at this hotel when it was newly opened a couple of years ago. It was very good at that time but sadly the quality of the hotel has deteriorate so much which is unbelieveble for such a new hotel. First, check in took an hour for us to get a room, the excuse was because the booking department closed at 6 and they did not get the email from Agoda. This is unacceptable. We got a lowest floor despite asking for a higher floor and there was no seaview as the overgrown trees were covering most of the views. The room conditions was bad. It has a mild rotten smell from the wooden cabinets. There was traces of hair in the beds and balcony which tells us thst the sheets were not replaced from the previous stay. 2 lights were flickering every time we switched it on. The TV made some weird shhh noice, channels were not clear and the bell was not working. Toilets were dirty. Tiles has some degree of moss. The glass were dusty, even the lobby glass at the second floor was not clean at all, rather than being clear, it looked frosted. Room was not maintaned. Wood and laminates were peeling at some places, marks on walls. Housekeeping did a bad job, did not replace out towels, shampoos, soaps and even our coffee, complimentary water bottles and even the creamer. Seriously awful that we had to call them again for new towels, soaps and cremer..coffee. The only thing that we enjoyed in this hotel was the stroll we had on its grounds and the beach. I hope they bring back the old charm of this hotel. Very dissapointing.

Beautiful and relax
A great hotel with the beautiful façade and quiet environment. Very comfortable and relaxing. Rooms are great with the bath tub at balcony. Close to the one shown in tv series. Except no piano.

Poorly maintained
Whilst the staff were helpful and very polite the resort is poorly maintained. Surroundings walkways walls doors all dirty and unkempt. Far from a 5 star rating Such a shame as the resort has been refurbished however not maintained

Love the hammock near the beach
Love the hammock and laze around there. I think the beach is one of the best location especially for water sport activities.

Spacious comfortable room at reasonable price
Room is spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is average considering the delicious Penang hawker fare available. Gym and spa opening hours could be longer.

Great hotel for accessing the beach :)
Really enjoyed our stay here, and would definitely return. The pool and the grounds are amazing, and well worth the money. The staff was friendly and the food was great. Of particular interest is the sizzling chicken next door at the old stalls: definitely worth checking out!
