Good place, good value

Excellent Location, next to major mall, inexpensive
We like this place. Hotel prices in Chiang Mai are generally low these days, and the Lotus price on Agoda was very good. Before booking, I walked into the lobby and was told there were no available rooms. So, I immediately booked using the Agoda app - and it went through! Not sure how that was possible. Anyway, the hotel rooms are large, and hotel public spaces are huge. Our room was clean, beds and bedding ok. Location is on Huay Keo road, not far from Chiang Mai U, the city zoo, Nimanhaemen road, and the various sites on Doi Suthep. We chose not to stay near the Night Bazaar, which is fun for a walk in the evening but on the very tacky side during the day. The Lotus is attached to the large Kad Suan Keo mall, which has a number of inexpensiveThai massage places and a local-food court in the basement which has some good and healthy offerings. I've eaten there many times. All in all, the Lotus is a very good place, I have found.

Checkin staff terrible

Location shopping and parking
Was terrible stay only the room was comfortable. The breakfast was shocking to be nice. The staff were incompetent at their job. We arrived at 4pm to check in to be told our rooms would be ready in 10mins 1 hour later still not ready. The staff then didn't inform me when it was ready. The bell boy evenentioned in bad english they did poor service for me. The room was very nice and bed was comfortable.

Lovely hotel in need of upgrades

Value, location, staff
This is a nice hotel that must have been stunning back in the day. It is still lovely, but is in need of upgrades to amenities and basic services. For example, a hotel if this stature should provide a room safe, bathrobes, and more than just basic toiletries. It seems as though these have been cut back to save costs, a very bad sign in a hotel. The bed, TV, and other furnishings are also old and outdated. With a little TLC, this could be a (near) world-class hotel. ***Word of warning! This hotel now caters primarily to Chinese clientele, so be prepared for throngs of loud, rude, and inconsiderate fellow guests! Even the restaurant serves more Chinese "cuisine" than Thai or Western food. You've been warned! ***

Stay at Lotus hotel ChiangMai

Convenient location to where I have to attend to my business, near the airport and a shopping center next to the hotel
Acceptable but nothing to write home about. Front desk staff that checked me in did not even smile but go about her job as if I am bothering her. A poor showing of the Thai hospitality that I am accustomed to at other hotels in Thailand. Lots of mainland tourists talking and shouting everywhere. Breakfast menu was same for the 5 days I was there.

ok for its price

good location, near to RAM hospital but outdated
This could not possibly be a 4 star hotel. The rooms are apart. Our toilet was blocked, the shower doesn't work, the towels are threadbare and sometimes you don't get a complete replacement set when the room is serviced. The air conditioning is either hot or freezing. The hotel wifi was slow. The hotel was full of large groups of Chinese tourists who yelled at each other constantly and slammed doors.
