hotel was great with large very comfortable bed

the food at the hotel wasn't great. I rented a moto for 200 a day and found some great restaurants like Jamaican bar and restaurant and others. reception wasn't very friendly but beers from 711 and drinking by the pool was great

Nice facility, not far from beach and Kata centre

The Kata Poolside Resort is a nice location with friendly staff, clean and the rooms are large with extra Bed for a child or any other 3rd person. The restaurant offers tastily Thai and european food. The breakfast buffet offers all you need as well. A weak point: Usually there is a pool bar which unfortunately was not open all five days when I was there.

not so good as the hotel is very old and need many rework and overhaul also the pool and the rooms where dirty and the breakfast was very poor quality eat only one day after that we eat breakfast outside on our own cost

Great location, close to everything

Hotel location was the best part of this hotel. Close to the beach and lots of restaurants around. The pool was decent, not a lot of places to sit around it, but it was nice. Accommodations were good, but you are definitely paying for the location of the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you are looking to stay in Kata this is a good option.
We did have an issue when we tried to check in. Check in time was posted for 2:00 and we arrived at 2, but our room wasn't ready. We waited for 1.5 hrs and it was still not ready. Finally she handed us a key and we went into a room. Not even sure if it was for our original room or not.

We came to Kata Poolside from a stay at a more rustic guesthouse and felt like we landed in the lap of luxury! The rooms and bathrooms were beautiful. The pool area was very well kept up but sadly, the swim up bar was not functioning while we were there.

an oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of Kata
relatively smallness of the hotel appealed; refuge from beach and street madness of Kata; delightful pool with access from a ladder off our deck; friendly staff and excellent breakfast and grilled seafood for dinner.

We enjoyed the relative intimacy of Kata Poolside compared to the mega-resorts our friends stayed in. Our deluxe pool view room was superb. To wake up, climb down our ladder into the pool and peel off 40 laps sets one up beautifully for a well presented buffet breakfast. Kata Beach is a short 5 minute walk away but it's great to know a quiet, poolside environment awaits back at the hotel as a refuge to the hustle and bustle outside. The humble restaurant out front was packed each night as the word was out that you can't do better for grilled seafood. If we return to Kata, we will return to Kata Poolside.
Restaurant Tip:
Check out the After Beach Bar for a magnificent bird's eye view of Kata and Kata Noi precincts and good food and drinks at sunset.

Decent Value Right Off the Beach

needed a location close to kata beach resort for king's cup sailboat race. kata poolside fit the bill perfectly. not the cheapest place but decent value. room was big and air was strong. nice after a hot day on the boats. poolside was nothing spectacular and swim up bar looked long unused and the heyday has passed. couple of new places being built next door may start out with better ammenities. no bar but restaurant at the front of the hotel had absolutely excellent dinner. we went for a couple of grilled fish and garlic stir fried squid was awesome. breakfast is nothing to write home about - go find two chefs or do something on the beach. nice to have 7-11 and another convenience store a couple of steps down the street. paid for internet in the room is so 1990's although in my room i received front desk wireless of almost 20mps - although only a matter of luck. bathroom was workable with decent tub but relatively small shower. i asked for extra bottled water but was denied - weird policy. phone in the room broke down a couple of times and the room safe also broke down a couple of times. kata seems heavily populated with russians - no problem with that. the beach is very nice and probably a good couples and kids venue. no where near the craziness off patong. so all in all, big room, strong aircon and location sum up this hotel.
Restaurant Tip:
Restaurant at the front of the hotel has awesome seafood - go for the grill and a nice bottle of white. Two chefs is great for breakfast - down the street and turn right. The steak house at the end of the street was awesome. Had Aussie Ribeye and pepper sauce. Service was outstanding. Price wasn't cheap but the steak was great as was the French Onions soup. For Thai food and a cheaper breakfast with generous bacon portions hit the restaurant on the beach next to Ska Bar. Breakfast in teh 200baht range for omellettes, extra bacon, coffee and juice.

A Pleasant Surprise

I stayed here with my aging parents, and was pleased with how short the walk to the beach was. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and even though the entrance is on a main road, the hotel itself was quiet and peaceful. I'll stay at this hotel again when I return to Phuket.

Good value hotel. Large rooms and big beds. Nice pool area suitable for families. Very close to beach. Rooms are a bit dated but well looked after. Poor wifi in rooms.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Kata beach across the road is beautiful. No need to swim at Patong.
