Faded glory but still very comfortable

Location, staff and old world Parisian charm
The Lutetia is about to close for a major refurb which it is definitely due. However our stay was quite acceptable and comfortable. As I knew beforehand about the closure I was not taken aback to find parts of the room a little tired and shabby.....smoke odour on the curtains, cracked washbasin, furniture worn out etc. However the location is great and all the front of house staff spoke excellent English with none of the usual Parisian "attitude". The hotel suited us very well as we had travelled to attend a family function being held there. I would stay again even without the refurb. We had an excellent meal for our large party at the Brasserie also where they accommodated us on the spot with no waiting or hassle. Well done to all at the hotel...the staff are a credit to the place.

Art Deco stay

breakfast, wonderful bar, friendly staff
Very nice location although this part of Paris is a bit far from the city center for those who do not stay long. Good to experience a truly historic hotel. Our (standard) room was not renovated yet unfortunately and was very simple, but quiet and with a very nice marble bathroom. The bar is a wonder and breakfast is a very well furnished all you can eat buffet.

Overall a good stay. Perfect location if you want to explore Paris or shopping. Hotel will go under renovation soon as it needs it. Big differences between the rooms you get.

Centrally located

Location, charm of the hotel and concierge
Nice hotel that needs renovation. Staff performance is weak but only for the prime location it makes this place a great choice

Romantic and centrally located .

The Art Deco style view of the city and Effie tower and the friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent stay that was enjoyable as it was close to shopping ,theaters, and major areas in Paris such and the Latin quarter and museums

Fancy but expensive

Location, standard, variety of bars and restaurants.
The bed was too hard. The lounge part of the suite was very pleasant. The breakfast buffet was the best I've had in France.

Old Lady in a great location

Nearly a century old it is due for a major refurbishment (scheduled for 2013). Excellent location in the heart of Paris and a few steps away from Paris' oldest department store, Le Bon Marche. Service is very good and overall cleanliness too. Just expect some cracks here and there but that's also the charm of staying in such an old building. Can't wait for the hotel to be refurbished as it has the real potential to become one of these famous Parisian "Palaces"
