Madras hotel tekka mediocre
The best thing about the hotel is its location. The other good thing is that the hotel has an Indian name that makes it non acceptable to foreigners from the west which often makes the services costly
Not good, the breakfast was sub standard as compared to the rates they charge, the service staff were grumpy and charged additional 30 bucks although I requested for an early checking along with the booking. The hotel did not honour any request for airport pickup although the same was committed as part of the deal.

Last choice for a hotel
Nothing spectacular about it.
I spent 4 nights at the Madras during this past month. According to the local cab drivers it is a very sketchy area that had recently had revolts by the local workers. I did not feel safe while staying here. The person behind the counter when my flight arrived (it was a late evening flight) was very grumpy and cold. Thankfully the day guy was a bit friendlier. The room, bare minimum and dirty. The area is extremely loud. It is surrounded by KTV's and bars with locals performing until about 5 am every night. Regardless of it's the weekend or a workday. The other clients within the hotel are extremely loud. It was however only about a 5 to 10 minute taxi ride to the Marina Bay area costing around 5-8 Singapore Dollars each way. If you are going there just to have a spot to kind of sleep (being woken up multiple times a night by the crazy music and singing) then it's probably the place for you. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind then definitely no.

Doubtful choice
Friendly personal.
There was no mentioning on the site of the hotel about a folding screen instead of a door to the toilet. When you want to do your "business" in the night it's difficult to keep it secret from others. This screen is opened and closed with rattling. When you turn light on illuminated is not the only toilet but the whole room too. Everyone in it wakes up. This screen doesn't hold noises inside either. So everyone knows exectly what you did inside. Next to the hotel there is a restaurant. Music from that restaurant can be heard untill late night. And now the room. We stayed in a triple room. Of cause, you can cramp into it the fourth bed and call it a four-bed room. There was only one bed-side table and a lamp in this triple room. The room isn't designed for three beds! You don't even have a place to lay your clothes on. The closet isn't designed to hold the clothes of three. And finally, we thought it wasn't easy to judge the hotel from pictures and descriptions provided by the hotel owners. We planed to stay in Singapore twice. On our first stay we'd see and decide whether to come here the second time. But it looks like a trap. Being lured in you are the only to blame, there is no escape from here. The policy of the hotel is all rates are non-refundable! Be careful!
