great food, quiet hotel

staff, quiet location, restaurant
Really enjoyed our two night stay here. Staff were so sweet and friendly! The two restaurants here had delicious food, a bit expensive but not too bad considering it's a hotel restaurant. Also have a little bakery which had really nice fresh baking including cookies :) Quiet hotel grounds and lots of nice places to sit and relax. Right at the base of the mountains so convenient for a nice drive up to other restaurants. Really close to lots of great activities.

No Lagoon

quiet, barely any other guests, interesting items on the menu
Although located in a lovely setting and truly quiet, this hotel is ageing and shabby, and there is NO LAGOON. (It has dried up since last year, we were told). Staffing is obviously at a minimum, as the place needed cleaning and gardening and better service at breakfast. The bakery is cute but unfortunately not very inviting, as the AC was not on and it was 38 degrees outside. The better cafe was up the drive -- very worthwhile, but not part of the Mae Rim Lagoon Resort. Basically this establishment has seen better days. For a quiet, simple getaway it's fine. But to call it a resort with a lagoon -- not accurate anymore. And for what you get, it is overpriced.
