Great views, Friendly staff

The views, the staff, the wonderful little cottages

Great stay here, its a bit out of town but a wonderful scenic drive. Staff are wonderful, the views and location on the hill are outstanding. the cottages are comfortable and clean. The food in the restaurant is ok, and quite expensive relative to other spots in town. Still worth the stay!

So bad we left after one night

The view
2.3
We had booked via Agoda and, foolishly it turned out, had paid for two nights in advance. It started badly when we arrived. The owner just grunted "booked?" No welcome not even hellos. As I wasn't feeling too great, my wife asked if we could have a room closer to the top of the property.. " the owner barked at her". The place was virtually empty so we suggested that this was a little expensive and asked for a discount. The owner's response was "take or leave it". His attitude was arrogant and surly and downright rude. When I asked him why he was being so agressive and rude he simply replied "I don't care" When we pointed out that we had a double bed ( rather a mattress on the floor) but only a single mozzie net he said we didn't need one as there were no mosquitoes here ( mozzies were everywhere) he also, rather incredibly informed us that they did not sell double mosquito nets anywhere in thailand. If we hadn't of paid in advance we would have left at that point. We decided to stick with it and put up with the dingy room with a mattress on the floor grubby bed sheets and towels, a door that did not close properly etc... When we returned that evening we found an infestation of large black ants all over the bathroom including inside the toilet. Literally, thousands of large black ants everywhere. We thought that was as bad as it could get until we found a giant, tarantula like spider in the bathroom. The attitude of the owner is truly awful. He appears to care only about the money and not one iota about his guests. There are many places in Mae Salong, try one of those, don't bother with this one,

Great getaway from the city life

Fresh air, friendly staff and clean room

The Home is a great place to get from the busy city life. No traffic. Only the nature but still connected as they have wi-fi. The owner and staff are very friendly and the owner speaks at least 2 other languages - Mandarin, and English pretty well.

Almost heaven!

Beautiful mountain views, cozy chalets, clean

We had stayed in Chiangmai city for a few days and took a motorbike trip covering Chiang Rai, Mae Salong, Phu Chi Fah, Nan and Phayao for the next 5 days. I love Maesalong Mountain Home! Situation about 4km from the little town (there were other guesthouses too), I found this resort tucked in a corner of the mountain charming, quaint and quiet. Amazing mountain views. Literally, a breath of fresh air! It was my most perfect honeymoon stay and sadly, we only stayed for a night as we have a tight itinerary to follow. The chalet and bathroom were clean, cozy and spacious. We sampled the fried Yunnan noodles and fish & chips for dinner. Had the noodles again for breakfast the next morning. The food was generally good and delicious. I missed my brewed coffee but they do not serve any except the ready-mix ones (3-in-1). The owner is friendly, hospitable and helpful when we sought more information on the best route to our next destination. We stopped by the oolong tea plantation and visited the factory on our way out. I would come back to stay here again for sure. For the long and winding journey to Mae Salong, it's better to spend at least 2 nights and explore the town nearby. Highly recommended!

Nice view

Nice view, nature, budget

I love the beautiful view from my balcony. But it will be more save if you bring some mosquito repellant with you too whiling stay in the resort. Because the resort style is mostly using bamboos for the hut. Also they are now making new building which is make noise whole day and felt not secure too
Min C. Families with young children Malaysia, July 14, 2014
Great view, but very dirty and lots of insects.

The view, the view and the view.
5.3
The view was amazing and I'd forgive a lot for that, but everything else was very poor. The staff are friendly, but clearly lack any kind of hospitality training and none could speak English. The cleanliness of the room was terrible and my daughter suffered severe stomach problems in the night after eating dinner in the hotel. (We suspect it was food poisoning, but are not sure) There were lizards in the room and lots of insects and I doubt they wash the blankets very often. The room smelt of urine and I mean the bedroom, not the bathroom. There were three dogs who have not had a bath in a long while and we felt they were a little neglected. The hotel is not safe for younger children, because you are literally on a mountainside with plenty of gaps in the fencing and you can't easily bring large suitcases to the room. You absolutely need to have a car with a gutsy engine to get here and frankly I'd stay well away. In fact we left at 7.30am to get away.
