Unique place, what a view...

View, staff and nature
This is a unique place, one of the best I stayed at in Thailand. The views over the valley are spectacular. The bungalows are simple but comfortable. Sitting on the balcony of your apartment is a unique experience, hard to match. What a unique place. The staff is very nice and most helpful. The only critical point I can mention is that they can take away the spider webs on the ceiling. The comfort of the apartments is good though.

great spectacular views, friendly staff, nature
We had a great time here dreaming away from our balcony. The views are amazing. It's not easy to find better views anywhere. Unspoiled nature. Friendly staff made our stay here great

Great views, Friendly staff

The views, the staff, the wonderful little cottages
Great stay here, its a bit out of town but a wonderful scenic drive. Staff are wonderful, the views and location on the hill are outstanding. the cottages are comfortable and clean. The food in the restaurant is ok, and quite expensive relative to other spots in town. Still worth the stay!

Nice environment, far from civilisation

polite, friendly staff; free flow (awesome) oolong tea; serenity
the owner was really polite and friendly, speaks fluent english, offered my a hot cup of tea whenever i was at the common area which was really nice high up in the mountains. as the region is a tea plantation, the tea was inevitably delicious. overall nice and comfortable stay with a large bathroom, albeit the tiny ants infestation

So bad we left after one night

The view
We had booked via Agoda and, foolishly it turned out, had paid for two nights in advance. It started badly when we arrived. The owner just grunted "booked?" No welcome not even hellos. As I wasn't feeling too great, my wife asked if we could have a room closer to the top of the property.. " the owner barked at her". The place was virtually empty so we suggested that this was a little expensive and asked for a discount. The owner's response was "take or leave it". His attitude was arrogant and surly and downright rude. When I asked him why he was being so agressive and rude he simply replied "I don't care" When we pointed out that we had a double bed ( rather a mattress on the floor) but only a single mozzie net he said we didn't need one as there were no mosquitoes here ( mozzies were everywhere) he also, rather incredibly informed us that they did not sell double mosquito nets anywhere in thailand. If we hadn't of paid in advance we would have left at that point. We decided to stick with it and put up with the dingy room with a mattress on the floor grubby bed sheets and towels, a door that did not close properly etc... When we returned that evening we found an infestation of large black ants all over the bathroom including inside the toilet. Literally, thousands of large black ants everywhere. We thought that was as bad as it could get until we found a giant, tarantula like spider in the bathroom. The attitude of the owner is truly awful. He appears to care only about the money and not one iota about his guests. There are many places in Mae Salong, try one of those, don't bother with this one,

Great getaway from the city life

Fresh air, friendly staff and clean room
The Home is a great place to get from the busy city life. No traffic. Only the nature but still connected as they have wi-fi. The owner and staff are very friendly and the owner speaks at least 2 other languages - Mandarin, and English pretty well.

Almost heaven!

Beautiful mountain views, cozy chalets, clean
We had stayed in Chiangmai city for a few days and took a motorbike trip covering Chiang Rai, Mae Salong, Phu Chi Fah, Nan and Phayao for the next 5 days. I love Maesalong Mountain Home! Situation about 4km from the little town (there were other guesthouses too), I found this resort tucked in a corner of the mountain charming, quaint and quiet. Amazing mountain views. Literally, a breath of fresh air! It was my most perfect honeymoon stay and sadly, we only stayed for a night as we have a tight itinerary to follow. The chalet and bathroom were clean, cozy and spacious. We sampled the fried Yunnan noodles and fish & chips for dinner. Had the noodles again for breakfast the next morning. The food was generally good and delicious. I missed my brewed coffee but they do not serve any except the ready-mix ones (3-in-1). The owner is friendly, hospitable and helpful when we sought more information on the best route to our next destination. We stopped by the oolong tea plantation and visited the factory on our way out. I would come back to stay here again for sure. For the long and winding journey to Mae Salong, it's better to spend at least 2 nights and explore the town nearby. Highly recommended!
