Hidden gem

Great service and accommodation staff. Thai food is very good. Beautiful hotel in serene setting away from the stress of the overcrowded touristic areas.
Incredibly accommodating staff. Great with children! Pool is amazing, views are nice, food is good, nice spa. Room for improvement: Front desk staff should have Internet. Add a late evening shuttle back and forth from Chaweng.

Not 5* but definitely 4

fair price for the room but IAm getting sick of a good inflating the discount we are getting. It's a nice 4* hotel.. But it has some issues. The beach is very rocky under water and they need to spend some money on clearing an area. The pool is overly chlorinated but beautiful to look at. It is also far far away from anywhere so you need to taxi everywhere. Their in house taxi is very expensive and unnecessarily so. When departing we requested a taxi to airport, they came back with 1000 thb which is ridiculous. I asked them to get me a local service which they replied...we don't have a number for one, despite them showing me many tour brochures the evening before where they get commission of course. After speaking to the manager we got it for 600. Little things like this ruin the memory of a good holiday. Most the staff were amazing though.

Fantastic but a little out the way........

We were wowed by this hotel, it exceeded our expectations, rooms were beautiful and well equipped and very clean, surrounding idyllic, staff fantastic
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mai Samui. It is a very peaceful hotel and spa in beautiful surroundings. The rooms were luxurious and had everything down to flip flops for us to wear to the beach. Staff were exceptional, very friendly and efficient. Always smiling :) the food was delicious, buffet breakfast always had a great variety of both western and eastern options and the food in the restaurants was outstanding although it is expensive compared to the rest of the island. The views from our room were stunning. The only down side I would say is that the complimentary shuttle only runs until 13:00 outbound and 16:00 inbound and taxis are very expensive on the Island. We did hire a scooter and you can get round the island in an hour and a half but I think that it would benefit guests to have the option of the shuttle of an evening and also maybe additional stops rather than just Chaweng as The Fishermans Village in Bophut is nice to go to both during the day and night. I would give this hotel a 8.5 out of 10 as it is but a definite 10 is the shuttle service was extended

Wonderful quiet place

The resort build quality and air, the main pool, all the extra features and food
We went the last 2 days of a 30 days trip to SouthEast Asia in order to relax. It was fabulous. Exactly that. The place is wonderful, the rooms are great and the bathroom is unique. I hope I will get back sometime.

Home away from home, but in paradise!

The staff were fantastic, friendly and accomidating. The room was beautiful, comfortable and the bath was the best! The facities were great from restuartants to pool.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like the staff were at our beck and call. Everything from a 2am milk request to the homemade biscuits delivered daily, and even all our trips and expeditions were seen to and taken care of more than we hoped for. The surroundings are an exquisite tropical paradise with beautifully well maintained facilities. We made a point of trying all the restaurants of which none were a disappointment. Our room was clean and spacious. We always looked forward to coming back to Mai Samui after a days adventures. All in all a beautiful and comfortable stay!

Beautiful 5* hotel

room, pool, hotel design
We were delighted to be upgraded to the pool villa on the beach as our deluxe room was unavailable when we arrived, we ended up paying for the upgrade the second night too as it was so beautiful! the hotel is stunning, lovely space, the pool is great, the sunbathing area is lovely, the only downside was the beach. you couldn't swim, it was too shallow and then went into coral. Perfect is you dont mind swimming in the pool only, but i missed the sea. Very quiet on the beach not much atmosphere in the evenings too, after one night you would probably go out in taxi for food to Bophut fisherman's village, but 30 min drive.
