A wonderful hotel

The staff were very attentive. Ben greeted us upon our arrival as if we were old friends.

This is a lovely property full of history. Ben greeted us upon our arrival and shared the history of the property with us, told the history of Melacca, provided a map, shared treats with our two sons and even suggested menu items to order at a local restaurant. It was a wonderful start to our weekend and all the staff were attentive and knowledgable throughout our stay. The room was beautifully appointed and very clean, with lovely toiletries provided. The welcome tea service in your room is a lovely touch as well. We also had high tea in the afternoon which was very enjoyable and not expensive. They have a lovely turn down service, with a story book provided for the children which our sons loved. The breakfast was good but not excellent. Overall our stay was very enjoyable and we will definitely return.

A pleasant surprise

Comfort, convenience and staff
8.7
Pro: 1. We stayed on the 6th floor. In love with the room decor and the river view. 2. Room was very comfortable and enjoyed the lil sweet treat provided. 3. Had in-room dinning. Variety was good and price was reasonable. Food was good too. Breakfast spread wasn't wide. Guests get to choose a main and a small spread of pastry, fruits and cereal was available. I enjoyed the asian option which was tasty and definitely felt healthier than the hawker version. I particularly enjoyed the dim sum cart which is a rare sight. 4. Staff were professional, hospital and truly made our stay very pleasant. 5. Ample parking w security guard. 6. Encountered a blackout. Generator got activated immediately. Con: 1. Internet was a tad slow and disruptive during the stay. High speed cable didn't work for me too. 2. Wall is a lil thin and can be a problem for light sleepers. 3. Enjoyed the tub and options of bath but the tub is unable to hold the heat long due to it's material. 4. There are some stairs and a fair bit of walking from the room to hotel lobby and breakfast area. Not a problem but may be inconvenient to the less ambulant. 5. Location wise, it's some distance from jonker street. The distance translate to quietness. We found it easier to drive to jonker.

Can be better for a 5-star hotel

Friendly staff and well-kept room
7.3
Things we like The decorations of the hotel is very classic. The room is well kept and shower & bed is spotless. The friendly staff guided us to our room with a teapot of welcome drink. Things that can be improved Room's wall has very poor sound proof. Guests with kids next door were so noisy that we were woken up at abt 7am. The breakfast spread has very limited choices. We were disappointed that the staff who ushered us to table did not inform us that we can order from the menu. The swimming pool is too small. For the price paid, i feel it can be better.
