Old old old

Excellent Seasons Restaurant
4.3
We booked Manila Pavilion because we initially got impressed with Seasons' buffet lunch special. However, I guess the only good side in this hotel is their food. Upon check-in, it took us 30 minutes to wait for our turn. Take note, there were only three people who were checking-in before us. I couldn't think of any good reason why it was taking a lot of time to process all those people who were checking in because, as I noticed, there were a lot of receptionists in the counter who were just hanging around. When it was finally our turn to check-in, the receptionist who took our voucher didn't even offer a smile. Come on people, you are in the hotel service field, you should at least be gracious enough to show appreciation to people who are crazy enough to book in your hotel. What was worst, while we were waiting for the receptionist to give us our keys, a Korean guy went up to the other receptionist and asked why it was taking so long for their room key. The receptionist countered in a very condescending and haughty way,"Why angry? Why mad?" Oh come on, don't tell me hotels like Manila Pavilion still hire receptionists who could not speak proper or even basic English. Argh. When we finally went to our room, we couldn't help but feel grossed out by the smell of the lobby, elevator, and hallway. Everything smelled and looked old. Our room is so dirty. The carpet is worn out, the walls have stains, the bathroom has a lot of mildew and mold, the headboard and the lampshades have weird stains, and the bed sheets and pillow sheets looked suspiciously unwashed. Even the towels are threadbare. We were so grossed out that we weren't able to sleep well because we were imagining germs and bacteria living contentedly on those sheets. The swimming pool was okay, and the gym although small was also sufficient. You have to pay for the sauna at the spa on the 6th floor. Finally, the only thing I could really recommend about this hotel is to eat at Seasons by Manila Pav.

Nice hotel but the room needed renovating

Good service from the staff, good location near Jose Rizal plaza
6.7
The foyer always smelled of smoke as smoking is allowed in a few areas. The superior room we stayed in on level 21 was pretty old. While all the rooms are now non smoking i would guess this one used to be a smoking room. The carpet was covered in stains and had a bad feeling when walking barefoot so shoes or flip flops were needed in the room. Also, the only outlet to charge phones and cameras was in the bathroom. The switches to control the rest of the room's lights were old and sometimes broken. The linen had been patched many times and there was a nasty stain on the bed covering. The free wifi only worked when standing just inside the door to the room or in the foyer. On the positive side, the location near the Jose Rizal plaza and shrine was handy, affording a view of the colourful fountains from the windows next to the lifts at night. The breakfast in the Seasons cafe had plenty of choice but lacked the normal Filipino staples of Tocino and Longanisa. Getting a clean table was difficult close to the end of the breakfast hours. The staff provided friendly service. There were heaps of food choices within walking distance of the hotel, along with a Robinsons Place shopping mall boasting all the usual outlets and bank branches.

The rooms a decent size but they smelled of smoke. The breakfast buffet was good and one of the best parts of the hotel. Location is good and walking distance from the Robinson Mall.

Service oriented hotel

the buffet is one of the hotels finest points. the staff are very courteous. the bed in the superior room is very comfortable.
7.3
i booked a 3day 2nights stay for my elderly mother who loves to visit the casino as a pastime. she was made to feel very comfortable, the staff were all attentive. however, the room can use an upgrade, especially the bathroom. the shower head and handle, the floor drain needs to be replaced since it is already showing it's age- not a good point for a hotel. also, there are not a lot of 220v electrical outlet where your laptop can be plugged.
Hotel Feature Tip: be sure to indulge in their sumptuous buffet. the selection will leave you fully satisfied without feeling so full in the stomach. the location is great for exploring intramuros and luneta, very near metropolitan museum, manila cathedral and san agustin church.

Not the best of areas to have a nice hotel but then again Manila is Manila, Lim said he was going to clean the streets up but there are more homeless people than ever before sleeping in the Mabini area. bring back the halcyon days, at least they all had jobs back then and the streets were safer
Nightlife Tip: If you are Aussie, check out the Southern cross hotel

Decent but little high for philippines,

Lobby
4.7
I would say this hotel is more of a 2 1/2 star, not even close to 4 star, the prices for food is much higher then usa prices, food is not great, service is super slow, rooms are very old smelly and have mold in the bathroom, only good thing is the showers are very hot,
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: nice areas around there
