Horrendous stay- left early despite losing a great deal of money
The hotel staff were incredibly unhelpful and especially nasty. I emailed them several times prior to organise a baby cot and sitter. No one ever got back to me and when I called ahead on the day of check in they said I could not "fit" a baby cot in the room. (In which you could have fit several in there- and had I been responded to at the start then I wouldn't have booked the room in the first place). Also despite having a one year old, being 7 months pregnant and travelling on my own staff refused to help me with any bags or even to open a door for me. The room was filthy, the dining plates couldn't be separated due to some substance in between them. All cutlery was disgusting. Floors and bedding were filthy. There was sloping tiles from the room to the balcony that both myself and my nanny slipped on- my elderly babysitter nearly injuring herself badly. The room was seriously overpriced and the staff were so horrible that I decided to leave a day early (wasting hundreds of dollars) and book an extra $350 dollar plane ticket just to avoid dealing with the disgusting room and horrific staff for another day. I have never written a mean review in my life- but this hotel was truly an awful experience. Perhaps privately owned suites are better?

Paradise,,,Mostly!
Palm Cove is such a gorgeous place, it's hard to go wrong. Warm ocean breezes, lots of winter sunshine, palm trees, in a relaxed and little upmarket vibe. The Mantra is a large resort built around a brilliant pool (especially if you have young children). The apartment room we had was large and comfortable. The downside is that Mantra seem a little stingy with no room service or cleaning for a week. Super thin toilet paper You have to ask for towels, and they leave you to put up your own cot. We had a top floor room with lots of walking up stairs and it took a while to work out how to get where on the property. The rooms at the front would be great if you could get one. Overall we had a fabulous time here.

Great Location
Stayed two nights, the room wasn't refurbished so looked a bit tired and up 3 long flights of stairs with a view of a neighbouring car park.. Had a small balcony which was nice and can't beat the location.

Needs refurbishing
Very old rooms, needs refurbishing. Would have been nice 20 years ago. Arrived at 1am, was locked out & no-one answered the phone for 20mins to let us in even after pre-warning reception of late arrival that afternoon. Had to call head office in the end. Very poor customer service

Good location
Was the second time we've stayed and were lucky that we could change the dates without paying extra due to unforeseen circumstances. That aside, the rest of our stay wasn't like the previous one. In the past we had stayed in 'block 2' which was renovated, modern and a nice view of the pool. This time was on the third floor ( a lot of stairs! ) in 'block 3' which had a view of a vacant lot, a carpark and rooftops - also noisy garbage trucks emptying bins at dawn. The room was old and dated, the bathtub was clean but looked like it had been there for decades, and the bed was super hard and the carpet a bit shabby. Staying two nights, we requested to change rooms but what was available wasn't much better.. The room gave us privacy though which was a plus. Also be aware the rooms aren't serviced unless you stay 8 days or pay a fee if requested. They also make you come to reception to collect extra toiletries if you run out..! If you end up with a renovated room congratulations, if not you may as well find something cheaper that equals the standard.

Loved our stay
Location, spa, value for money
Will definitely stay again, had everything we needed. Can't beat the location on the main street of palm cove, a few steps from the beach. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, view of the pool was lovely. There was a spa/bathtub in the room, a balcony, quiet airconditioner and the furniture was tasteful and modern. Also appreciated the great selection of quality teas and coffee that were complimentary in the mini bar!

prime location
location was great, vivo restaurant was excellent
Check in didn't take long at all, the girl was friendly. The hotel spa room is pretty small but comfortable. Previous guest had left a blouse in the cupboard so this wasn't checked properly by housekeeping. When I had a shower I noticed that the previous guest also left their toothbrush on top of the shower door. Housekeeping definitely didn't do a good job. Then I noticed cup/milk stain on the bench. Whatever. The toilet seat had a stain on it so I had to sanitize it myself!! So I called reception to let them know that I didn't feel my room was cleaned properly and asked to be moved else where. When she told me the location of the new room, I declined and decided to stay in my original room. Then the bathroom light went out, but the maintenance guy came really quickly and replaced the tranformer promptly. The pool is good, big enough for kids and adults and there are plenty of chairs. The restaurant downstairs (vivo) was good. It was nice, clean, fast and friendly. The location of this hotel is perfect. Right on the esplanade and shops and restaurants are within minutes on foot. And the beach!!! It's just across the road! If you bring your own car, there's a free carpark at the hotel and you just park it at an empty space. It's not undercover though. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The only thing that let it down was housekeeping.
