Needs an upgrade

The location is fantastic - close to shops, the beach and a playground. Rooms are soundproof and the pool is great.
I have stayed in a 2 bedroom unit previously, which was lovely with an expansive view. This time, I was in a 3 bedroom unit. All 3 bedders are on the sides of the building, limiting the view. The lounge area was small and completely tiled, which wasn't great for little kids. I think the planned upgrade is long overdue - the bathrooms were run down and mouldy and kitchen supplies very limited. The staff were all lovely and the pool is great. I'm just not sure that it competes with other hotels on the same strip that charge similar rates.

Location great but rooms need renovation

Location and view
We were disappointed with the room. It was old, not renovated and not very clean. Seemed more like a 3-star rather than a 4-star property.

Construction warning

With the beach just across the road and perched between two surf clubs, this is a great position.
While the rooms were good, renovations are being done at the moment. Only one lift was in operation, so a 5 - 10 min wait each time we wanted to go up or down. Kitchen utensils lacked any strength, making it difficult to cook up a bbq.

Renno Nightmare

location, location, location
the renovations were disappointing - tradesmen seemed in-effective - no mention of the rennos when we booked !! Room was noisy (front door opening & closing) Have not yet received the promised $50 voucher offered as we checked in the lifts were unreliable & there was no communication about alternatives (stairs) reception disorganised - computers playing up - not professional at all This is our second visit to the Mantra & it will be the last

Spring Break

The location is excellent as are the staff. And it is always good to have the self-catering ability.
The hotel itself is going through a refurbishment which looks good but perhaps our room could do with a bit of a make-over soon. Nothing major, just that it seemed to be getting a little tired. Other than that minor thing we enjoyed a great stay there. The hotel is excellently positioned for the beach and just down from the main entertainment area of Coolangatta which meant little or no noise filtering up to our 5th floor room of an evening. The pool and spa area are neat and tidy although the area does lose the sun by 3pm. We found the staff excellent to deal with. Would definitely consider staying there again.

Great location and price

Comfortable location and big apartments
Great sized apartments and it appears that the common area have had a recent paint job, which is great as I noticed it was looking tired the last time we stayed here. Apartment 407 had great beds and was a good size. The only flaw was that the kitchen was not well stocked at all. No cutting knives or cutting boards, limited glasses and crockery. Lucky only staying a short time. i had asked staff earlier that morning if I could get an early check in, and was advised they would phone when the room was ready. When I didn't get a phone call I waited till 2 pm on the dot and then went to check in reception. When I asked for a higher floor room I was told that everyone else had already checked in and that there were no high floors left. A bit of a let down in that area. Overall though a good stay

the Mantra.. Great location..

Location. Parking, access to cafes, pub, beach, and other entertainment
The apartment was very nice.. Window cleaning, was a major miss.. balcony furniture was Ma & Pa Kettle, but the curtains didn't fit letting light in, in the morning.... The kitchen was very well equipped. and Wifi was ridiculously expensive!!!!! and the weather was hideous

Wonderful location, rooms slightly dated

Location was amazing! Rooms although extremely comfortable could do with a good coat of paint and change of furniture! Would happily return
