Nice place

Nice, spacious grounds, quiet

A beautiful area surrounded by fields, a little outside the city but only a quick tuk-tuk is worth it for the quiet. Would be fantastic if they could fit a small pool in there somewhere to relax during the hot days!

We stayed the first time in Martina Hotel and we were surprised about most things. The only disadvantage was the distance to the town. You must take a taxi. But we shall come again. It's really a pleasant place

Big Motel with beautiful gardens

clean, new rooms, good standard

It's a big motel, feels like it might well be in California. Very clean and new, excellt standard. Breakfast was not great for westerners but okay, some staff spoke decent English but most spoke very limited. We had a Thai massage which was very good.

A haven of comfort in a hot corner of Paradise

The standard of finish of the rooms, the parking (immediately in front of each room, the efficiency of the staff.

We went to Surin for the Elephant Round Up, highlight of the year in that area. We have been twice before, in 2009 and 2010, stayed at the Petkhasem. We know that prices in Surin are 3x normal rates at that time, so were pleasantly surprised at the rate on offer through Agoda at the Martina. The location is to the North of the town, on the "wrong" side of the railway line, and is a nightmare to find without GPS! It is a long walk to town, but tuk-tuks are only 80baht each way, and the hotel will summon them for you, so not a big deal. The accomodation consists of a room, Thai style shower room and toilet, and parking in front of each unit. There are two sections the older one has smaller rooms, the new section has enormous rooms and the shower room has to be seen to be believed! Finish and maintenance are to a high standard, way above the normal. The beds are comfortable, there is a small fridge, and a flat screen led TV, with True cable. We managed to see two English Language films in acceptable quality both noghts we stayed. The restaurant is actually very good - a small selection of Farang food which we did not try, and a good selection of Thai and Isaan dishes - those we tried were very good and very quick service, in spite of the immense pressure of numbers due to the Round-up, and prices are very fair. Breakfast buffet ( included) was Thai standard, i.e. Dreadful to Europeans, ok for locals. The only major downside- it needs a pool! This far out of town, and this hot, a nice shady pool is an absolute necessity! All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel for a few nights stay if driving, ok if on a tour if you are prepared to hike into town and back or pay for tuk-tuk, motorbike hire, etc., but not for the frail and elderly! Excellent value for money!

Old Hotel

quiet

My stay was okay, have stayed here before but this time I was in the VIP section of the hotel, to be honest it is not worth the extra money, the bed sheet had a large whole in it which was patched over. The rooms are old but comfortable, I would recommend the standard rooms which are a bit smaller but you save some money. I would go back again as the price is reasonable

Decent place

Bed was comfortable and room was new. The shower was great.
6.3
The staff was not very helpful and everything is over priced. There is also a list of everything in the room and how much you have to pay if you damage anything. "500baht if you leave marks on bedsheets or towels that require cleaning." Thought the atmosphere could be better, but the room is very comfortable.
